What Die-Hard Fans Don't Even Know About The Big Bang Theory

Diogenes says...

I haven't watched any of them. Sorry for the confusion. I have no intention of watching them...I was being facetious mentioning a queue. Breaking Bad...well, it broke me...badly.

I don't really like pop music, at all. Zepp and Floyd, on the other hand, are among my all-time favorites...except, ironically, In Through the Out Door. It was too poppish. Zepp 2 and Dark Side are their best, imho, in case you're wondering.

ChaosEngine said:

There's a pretty big gap between dumb as a sack of hammers nonsense like Big Bang and 2.5 men (both created by the same guy, I think) and something like It's Always Sunny or Breaking Bad.

I'm not saying you're wrong to dislike Breading Bad or It's Always Sunny (I thought BB was great, but It's Always Sunny never really grabbed me), just that they're not really in the same category.

It's just kinda like saying "I don't really like pop music. I don't like Lady Gaga; she's like Katy Perry or Pink Floyd. And I tried to get into Led Zeppelin, but the first album sucked".

The Trouble With The Electoral College; Cities, Metro Areas

SDGundamX says...

The best way to explain it is that the Founding Fathers of the U.S. basically predicted that someday there could be an outcome like the most recent election, where people voted based on their emotions (fear, anger, hatred--all the Dark Side stuff) and not on logic or reason.

The Founding Fathers didn't trust the common man to be educated enough to always make reasonable decisions and wanted to ensure that there was a brake in place to prevent "mob rule." That "brake" is the Electoral College, a collection of (ostensibly) politically-educated individuals who could prevent demagogues (like Trump) from taking power.

I think this is the first time in history where the Electoral College can do the job it was intended to do. If the Electors put aside political partisanship, they'll recognize how putting a completely inexperienced, hate-inducing liar into the White House is a terrible idea and ensure Trump doesn't get the Presidency.

Of course, Electors not voting along party lines is in actuality highly unlikely to happen as, in the end, Electors are all long-standing and high-ranking Democrat or Republican Party members. I mean, if you were a Republican Elector whose party had spent the last eight years without a Presidential win, watching time and again as legislation in a Republican controlled congress gets vetoed down by a Democratic president, even a man like Trump is going to start to look tempting. So the safe bet is that Trump gets elected anyway and the Elector College proves itself again to be a pointless institution for this and all the other reasons explained in the video.

Teen Titans Go!- Darkseid finally clears his throat

artician says...

Dark"SIDE"? really? Maybe excusable because I'm not a comic fan, but for my entire life, myself and everyone I know have called this character dark-seed.
If I think about the German pronunciation, I guess that makes sense. Still.... mass ignorance? I hate it when that happens.

Fencing in slow motion

ChaosEngine says...

A student went over to the dark side and you swore you'd never teach people to kill again?

But now you have to come out of retirement to hunt down your former student because you're "the only one who knows him"?

I'm always impressed by the sheer response speed of fencers.

Democrats Divided on Hillary and Bernie: A Closer Look

bareboards2 says...

@RFlagg And they won't stonewall Bernie?

Come on. That is pretty much guaranteed.

That is the real problem these days, and the internet hasn't helped. How do we get people to move off "winner take all"? "My way or no way?"

We are in deep yogurt.

Here's the plus side to being on the dark side of 60. I won't be around when the whole thing collapses.

Two other shows I thoroughly enjoyed this year were Bloodline [gonna rewatch it with a different eye after the season finale!] and Transparent. Very satisfying for my "dark" side.

Film Theory: Is Luke EVIL in Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Film Theory: Is Luke EVIL in Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

artician says...

I doubt he's evil. That would be SUCH a terribly lame and predictable twist. That will kill the film for me immediately.

I'm expecting him to be in self-exile, carrying a weight from killing his father, and to keep himself from the dark side. He's probably just anti-social.

I think everyone is going to get the force in this one. I think they're going to pull a Buffy-finale, and "The Force Awakens" refers to the power to use the Force being spread to every living thing.

That has nothing to do with Luke, (unless his self-exile is some sort of journey culminating in his self sacrifice to facilitate a change of that kind, or something) I just needed a platform to share my theories.

Jar Jar Binks Sith Lord Theory

Payback says...

Just an aside, who thinks Luke has become a Sith Lord to Kylo Ren's apprentice?

Like father, like son? And Ren IS Luke's son, and Luke went Dark Side when Ren's mom was killed by Jar Jar...

Oh, this is fun!

The 2 Euro T-Shirt - A Social Experiment

mechadeath says...

Yes, it may raise awareness... but their campaign is trying to effect some kind of societal change regarding the clothes we buy and they're showing us the dark side of ALL the clothes we buy.

Yet, we still need to wear clothes; So what is the expected change in behavior here? Buy clothes that are made locally to avoid any interaction with poor countries? Pay more for expensive clothes in the hopes that the extra spending is passed down to the factory workers (it surely isn't)? I just dont get it, their message is dark and hopeless and a bit obvious.

eric3579 said:

Im pretty sure this is more a stunt to promote overall awareness and really has little to do with buying or not buying these t-shirts.

It's the 3 million yt views that may have an effect not some silly vending machines seen by so few. This was all about the video they made, as the expense of the production just to inform a few people 'live' is a poor investment on getting the word out. Me thinks.

To A Childs Delight, George Lucas Says Jedis Can Get Married

newtboy says...

They went over this in Episode 3 quite a lot. It was the reason Anakin turned to the dark side...the fear of the loss of his love. It may not be explicitly forbidden, but it's certainly discouraged and frowned upon. While telling the child he could get married as a Jedi was a sweet thought, it's not really being honest.

I found it insane that 'low income' was anyone making under $72K per year!
It really does sound like the housing project is a slap back at his neighbors for not letting him expand his studio. Where his ranch is, there are no services, no stores, and probably no busses. I went there in the early 90's, and it was not near town at all. Today it's nearly a gated community in the hills with multi to hundreds of million dollar homes. It's a nice thought, and I hope it does help some people who are struggling, but purchasing land in or near town to build it really seems more reasonable and helpful to those really in need, like people living on or near minimum wage in the bay area. Those people won't be able to live in these low income homes, because they won't be able to get to work reasonably from there unless they're doing something about that problem too.

Wow, this George guy is pretty cool when he's not ruining my childhood!

Here's other cool things he's been doing with his spare time now that he isn't writing and directing what would certainly be crappy sequels to the Star Wars franchise.

To A Childs Delight, George Lucas Says Jedis Can Get Married

newtboy says...

Think about it. "love", and the fear of losing what he loved, is what turned Vader to the dark side. To me, it's like Buddhism, which teaches that desire is the root of all disappointment and evil.
They went over this a lot in episode 3.

eric3579 said:

Soooo lame. Who came up with that idiotic rule. Sounds like some stupid cult shit or religion. The backbone of any thing good in the universe imo should be based on love, empathy and the ability to forgive. Call me disappointed.
