Tron legacy: New trailer

volumptuous says...

Yes of course I don't like the colors.

It's not only because the original Tron was BLUE vs RED. But also because every film coming out the last five years or so has done the overused bullshit Orange and Teal color grading nonsense.

Look, before a film is in the can, it goes through a color correction process done on a multi-million dollar machine called a Davinci, with a colorist controlling the whole thing. This process is used to do corrections on bad saturation levels, making sure teeth aren't yellow, and making sure skies are blue. It's also used to heavily influence color, do tricks, and re-color shots in creative ways.

But, lately the directors have been going nuts with ORANGE & TEAL. Don't believe me?

This is the color-grading equivalent of a photoshop lens flare.

I've done massive amounts of telecine/divinci color correction sessions, and have worked as a color designer for many many years. Color is my specialty, and is the biggest reason why I ever get hired on projects. So when I see one of my favorite feature films of alltime being shit on by the easy hollywood hack system, I get a little offended.

The new Terminator movie is mixed loud as fuck and there must be directions from the studio for theatres to set volume at 11. Terminator: Salvation is the loudest movie I've ever seen, and for a few years there I was seeing avg. 2 movies per week at the cinema.

I received a copy of DaVinci Code as a gift a couple years back, and couldn't even make it through the second chapter. The writing style is so... so... fucking SHITE that I felt embarassed to be reading it.

Here is the first paragraph in the book:

Renowned curator Jacques Saunière staggered through the vaulted archway of the museum's Grand Gallery. He lunged for the nearest painting he could see, a Caravaggio. Grabbing the gilded frame, the seventy-six-year-old man heaved the masterpiece toward himself until it tore from the wall and Saunière collapsed backward in a heap beneath the canvas.

I can't even keep track of who is the subject in that paragraph. Are "the 73 year-old man" and "Sauniere" the same person? Because the third sentence makes that somewhat unclear. Not good to be unclear three sentences into a novel.

The book (A&D) is actually quite good and creative... these movies fail because they are sabotaged by people who hate how powerful the message is... which is odd, because it's Tom Hanks... how is he gonna let that happen, unless it's his doing...

DaVinci Code movie = fail, the book wasnt as good either.

A&D could have made up for hanks' hair in the last one... but it deviates too much.

Book was much better than DaVinci Code. More suspense, more character building, more general everything except the Christian origin angle. I'll likely watch this, even if Hanks is a rather bland pick for the protagonist.

Knowing: HD Movie Trailer - Nicholas Cage (2009)

mintbbb says...

Nic Cage has sucked for quite a while.. I did enjoy him on Face Off and National Treasure, and I pretty much don't expect anything but a mindless (fun) movie from him any more.

But come on, Tom Hanks did DaVinci Code, and that was sooooooooo bad! =)

Actually, I was arguing that there WILL be a rapture Gorgon. hehe. If you get a chance, read the articles I linked to. There are a GREAT many reputable biblical scholars that argue that there will be a pre-wrath rapture. For ages, the catholic churched suppressed that interpretation, so it looks as though it arose recently while it most certainly did not. There are also quite a few scholarly articles out there explaining why Revelation DIDN'T occur thousands of years ago as some claim. Left Behind didn't invent the rapture, it merely popularized it.

Anyway, in general, Gracethrufaith.com is an excellent site for any believer... it'sworth a look when you get a chance.

In reply to this comment by gorgonheap:
The rapture as many Christians know it has no real biblical basis. In fact I honestly believe that nowadays it has a more widespread base because of a fictional series of books called 'Left Behind'. (Kinda the same way a lot of die hard Catholics took the 'DaVinci Code' literally.)

The book of Revelations in the Bible is largely (As Doc_M has stated) allegorical. Not literal as may critics and ignorant readers seem to take it. I believe there will be a judgment day for everyone who has lived on this earth. But the general interpretation of the 'rapture' has no real merit with anyone who knows about the history and background of biblical text.

DaVinci's "Last Supper" at 16 giga, yes gigapixels. (Art Talk Post)

Arsenault185 says...

Hmmm. Go back and look at the "floating knife" again. Without a doubt, it does belong to Peter. However, there is clearly some symbolic reason it was painted this way. I doubt a talented and intelligent man as Davinci made this oversight: Look at the way he is holding it. This is clearly an unnatural position. Try to hold something (i would say a knife, but some people might hurt them selves and blame me... EIA in the making) the way Peter is holding that knife. Most uncomfortable.

Amazing Wingsuit Flying

mmhMmm... i think I'll wait until carbon nanotubes make wings and soaring eagle-like possible. That will be cool. No silly parasails, just you looking like something out of daVinci's notebook.

than god curse the pope to be indirectly responsible for that. Thing like that give me the envy to believe to the davinci code theory just to believe there are somewhere a direct descendant of jesus who are more worthy to lead christianity than than this so call ''servant of god''.

I yell to the world as a true christian ( and not one of this (bip) fanatic)

THE ONLY PERSON THAN THE POPE SERVE IS THE DEVIL

Gorrillaman: your right in one point, stupidity induce by fanaticism is the cancer of the world and especially the christian religion who it believe it serve
