Thanks @kulpims.

Ive been a backer for a year and a half. So I've had access to their "pre pre pre pre pre pre Alpha" for some time now which allows you to walk around the hangar and see the ships you've purchased and climb into the cockpits and walk around, etc. Limited multiplayer dog fighting is available and some co-op modes. but not many of the ships are available for combat yet.

I've purposely not played it very much though. I could never be a game tester despite how much I game. I don't have a ton of patience for bugs and I just don't want to get burnt out on the game. I'd rather play the released game. but it is wild to see it grow and evolve right before your eyes.

Believe it or not though. I do get Mordhaus's frustration. The crowdfunding campaign has been going on for WAY longer than anyone has intended. CR himself never expected this kind of support. I've got hype fatigue myself. I get worn out following this game. the downvote was unnecessary though.

Dutch journalist Jeroen Akkermans keeps uploading scores of pictures taken at the MH17 crash site to his Flickr account. No corpses, just debris -- no warning neccessary.

A few interesting pictures, if you don't mind amateur forensics:
- left wing, top side: damaged by debris coming from the fuselage at an outward trajectory
- window panel, aft-most cockpit window, port side: shredded by shrapnel, downward trajectory?
- second door from the front, port side: no damage from shrapnel or debris
- port-side hatch of the forward landing gear: no damage

So, explosion in the foward-left quadrant, above the cockpit?

I know, I know -- wild speculation, utterly without a point. But it's infinitly less depressing than looking at the latest pictures from Gaza. Bad days to be a news junkie...

Edit: rear door, starboard side -- no damage

Pilot's View of Airbus A380 approach & landing at SF Airport

Thanks for posting this! I lived in Mountain View for three years and Daly City for another two after that, and always used SFO for my travel needs. I recognized all the landmarks they showed in the video! Very cool to see them from the cockpit.

Oh, and I know I'm a horrible person but I spit all over my screen laughing out loud when the computerized altimeter started calling out "Retard! Retard!" when they got low to the ground.

According to trusty google, it's a reminder to the pilot to "retard" the thrust levers back to idle so that they can be engaged in reverse thrust if necessary on touchdown.

There are two things that are impressive about this. That the good old Herc can do that at all, and that the cockpit was big enough to fit the combined balls of those pilots...

Plane Loses Power Cockpit Footage

That is what training is about. If you listen black box recordings of planes that are few seconds from certain crash and most likely death of the pilots, they are like the receptionist from a hotel lobby. "here's you room key and complementary..." "check the flaps, turn the fuel injection off.. " silence. It's the most precious physical quality in the cockpit as the more calm you are, the better judgements you make. Also when you are following that kind of routine, the desperation doesn't incapacitate you. The downside is that they rarely get to send their farewells to family, that's not in the checklist.

Have to send congrats to this pilot, he acts exactly like one should. It's really admirable.
