Old Iron--A pilot's love affair with the MD-80 jet's cockpit

OK, be still my aviation nerd heart. A pilot goes through all his reasons for loving a nearly entirely retired aircraft, the McDonnell Douglas MD-80.

Some nice touches:
-Mechanically redundant controls
-Over designed window controls
-A different and unique switch for each major function---a lesson once written in blood (flaps shaped like flaps; landing gear shaped like a wheel)---because if you moved the wrong switch, well, then something bad could happen and you didn't always have time to look---
