Fantastic Louie C.K Interview with Marc Maron (Comedy Talk Post)

rottenseed says...

I thought he was decent to Dane Cook- it was more like "there's this perception of you out there that ..." I don't remember anything particularly rude.

How come?

Thanks man! I fell out with WTFPodcast.

I was pissed after his snooty interview with Dane Cook. I'm not really a Dane Cook fan, but Marc wasn't being a cordial host to the comedian. His disdain for Dane Cook came out and I thought that was unprofessional. That and he hasn't had a lot of talent on that I want to hear from lately.
Also I've been getting into Bill Burr's podcast.

Marc came off as condescending, to me. He was openly mocking Cook's situation with comedian Steve Byrne where Dane Cook says that Steve "stole his essence". Now, that does sound like a strange accusation, but I did notice that Steve Byrne's delivery, timing and energy were exactly that of Dane Cook (before I had heard of any interaction between the two). I think as a respectable, interviewer, Marc should have viewed Steve's act to see exactly what Dane was talking about. He obviously did not, as it is unmistakable. As somebody who understands joke theft, he should understand that a comedians identity is more than just his jokes.

Interestingly, I've seen Steve Byrne's newer routine's since the conference between Dane and himself and his act has changed a lot. He's finding his own voice.

it's "a guy looks AT a girl"

so he looks at her and wants to ride her, then she "gallops" in the space betwixt his legs. clearer?

They shoulda had him in X3 with a love interest. Give him the hologram generator thing from the Dave Cockrum\John Byrne days and show him come to grips with being himself.. That's the REAL X-Men... from the mid-70s to the early 80s there were a lot of truly character driven storiesand arcs like that. Since about the late 80s, most of what is referred to as character driven is actually marketing driven, and has been pretty consistently crap... almost no X-Men comics from the 90s can sustain a re-read.

He breaks up with Lara Flynn Boyle, and almost loses Tia Carrere to Rob Lowe. Rob Lowe people! Didn't he get caught doing some 16 year old and her mother in a video?

Oh wait, that was Gabriel Byrne in End of Days. My bad.

I at least contributed more than an "Exactly." and offered my opinions and perspective in a respectable manner, while you go the route of mocking me with snarky sarcasm and evade any real response to what I said.

Because I don't generally see any point in debating empty rhetoric with anything other than snark. Otherwise I'd be on LGF all day trying to convince people that Obama isn't a secret muslim, and Soros doesn't control the media.

This flourish of "the worlds wealthiest and most powerful people" is either misinformed, or just empty rhetoric. It's so easy to be willfully ignorant of actual achievements people make when you already hate them.

Here's a few things Obama has done thus far, that I'm not sure how they benefit the "most powerful":

• $19billion for electronic medical records
• Stopped the anti-missile defense plan in Poland
• The Obama administration and Russia announced plans to begin talks on a new START treaty to reduce nuclear arsenals to approximately 1,500.
• Signed an executive order to close CIA secret prisons.
• Signed an executive order to ban torture and subject all interrogations to Army Field Manual Standards that conform to the Geneva Conventions.
• $2,500.00 tax credit for college students
• $2billion for advanced car battery R&D
• $2 billion for Byrne Grants, which funds anti-gang and anti-gun task forces.
• Public Land Management Act of 2009 has put under federal protection more than two million acres of wilderness, thousands of miles of river and a host of national trails and parks. The conservation effort - the largest in the last 15 years - came with the stroke of a pen
• Obama's meetings with Turkish and Armenian officials, Turkey and Armenia announced plans to normalize relations.
• Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attended Gaza aid conference, pledging $900 million in aid in order to "foster conditions in which a Palestinian state can be fully realized."

There's more, but it apparently doesn't matter to a lot of people. Unless he's ended both invasions/occupations of Afgh/Iraq, personally kidnapped and murdered those responsible for the economic clusterfuck, landed Bush/Cheney in the Hague for war crimes, and given everyone a beautiful pony, he hasn't done shit!

Thank you so much for both of the promotes!! Spread the David Byrne love around.

I also love his lyrics. They can be so random and deep at the same time. Maybe it's all the acid use.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's a great presentation. The guy is so clued up, and he's got a lot of courage to take on Wall Street. He called the naked short selling issue in 2005. If only people like this were listened to and not derided.

Oh yeah, his name is Patrick Byrne, he's CEO of Overstock.com and founder of www.deepcapture.com. I'm sure you can find his e-mail address at one of those sites.

If you are interested in the guy theres a great interview over at CNet.com with him. A really great guy who has lived a pretty interesting life.

Dude, awesome linkage! Best hour I have spent learning in awhile. Very great stuff

Do you know who did it so I can send him a thank you as well? That was surely a lot of effort.

In reply to this comment by SpeveO:
Make sure to watch the presentation on 'naked short selling' at http://www.businessjive.com/. It's a very thorough explanation if you are looking to understand what 'naked short selling' is, how it works and how it's been abused. Mind blowing.
