You Forgot To Hit Pause...

I heard that it occasionally caused confusion in Spanish speaking countries... like saying Dan is playing with his Amiga in his room (Grandma faints).

They changed the name of the vic-20 to vc-20 in German speaking countries because the original is rude in German, but kept Amiga as-is.

Amiga!
A Random Thought Occurs!

If "amigo" is friend, is "Amiga" girlfriend? Did our generation get trolled on that one?

Commodore 64 turns 30: What do today's kids make of it?

HAWP: Jesus Christ 64

Sounds like another crappy, dumbed-down console port that's already been done under different names many times before. To name a few... Horus 64 (for the N64), Dionysus for the Amiga, and Mithras-TC for Doom.

An Inconvenient Truth

Hell a tech brained kid in the 90s might have known about Apple, but they were on their way out of near everything. I can recall using them in middle school, around when I was in maybe 6th or 7th grade and even then they were trying to get rid of them when budgeting allowed.

Amiga was the one everyone used to talk about because video games and graphics were the new things coming along for games. Prior to Doom you had Archon, Oregon Trail, Zork, and other text based stuff....that was early and mid 90s. Think I got my first computer around 95, Doom came out in 93. But when stuff came out back then it didn't spread as quickly as it does now since people owning computers was rare and if they did it was 50/50 if they could do much of anything when it came to games.

Never physically encountered an Amiga, but that was the stuff all the "big studios" were using for their video production and what not if you heard about them at all.

Apples were novel, just because having one meant you had a computer. And computers were pretty rare. Consoles were where it was for actually "good" games for a long time, PCs were ungodly expensive.

I remember going to the "terror sites" was actually terrifying, when you were disembarking the skyranger(?) in the dark and throwing out flares only to spot a variety of aliens you hadnt encountered before, all waiting to slaughter your team int heir first turn
First had UFO for the Amiga 1200, it was a disc swapping extravaganza! Go make a cup of tea while the computer took its turn.
When I was buying UFO:Enemy Unknown for the PC in 1995 I think, a man in his 40's came up to me, I was like 18, and he said laughing "NO! Dont buy it! It will take over your life! You'll do nothing but play UFO".
He was right ">

The map shown is a well-lit gas station. Take a look out to the sides, I bet they have some pitch-black maps too.

The levels of the electric guitar + drums seem wrong and overall the track sounds really murky If this was remastered so the electric guitar was crisp and each component stood out with quit abit of distance between the violin and the electric guitar then it would be 100x better , To me the whole track sounds as if i'm listening to it with a pillow on my head.
Be fun to hear a amiga/c64 version of this track.

the two people who appear in this weren't in collaboration with each other. They were two separate videos (The one guy on violin, and the other on guitar) and a third party spliced them together, so I don't expect the music to be stellar.

However, the fact is that it still sounds pretty freaking epic. I have no problems with the sound quality, and my headset is currently a piece of shit.
