Rachel Maddow: Racist Roots of Arizona Law

My_design says...

I'm all for immigration reform. Rewrite the laws. Have them make sense, and then ENFORCE THEM!
Stop companies from taking advantage of illegal immigrants. Make it easier to become a citizen. But have some control over how people can come into this country.

If you have a green card you are bound legally to carry it with you 24 hours a day.
When I travel internationally I have to have my passport and visa with me 24 hours a day.
If I travel into Mexico I have to have my passport and I have to show it to an officer when requested.
Same thing whenever I travel to China. In fact whenever I travel through regional borders I have to provide my passport. Same thing with every hotel I stay at in China. All of them require I provide my passport and they provide a copy of main page to the local government.
I carry my drivers license with me always. I would never even think of it as an offense if an officer asked to see it.

The Story of Bottled Water

Sagemind says...

I was raised up north in Canada, I was raised on Well Water.
I've been exposed to that crap some people are forced to endure (smells like eggs, feels like you can't rinse the shampoo from your hair, sometimes has a the red tinge of rust ect.) But the well water we grew up with was clean and pure, no water softener needed.

As well, the house I just sold (moved away from) up north had the best tasting well water I've seen, 100% clear, perfect taste, surpassed all water testing, no colouring ect. We could leave the sprinklers on 24 hours a day and the water would never run low. We were on a "Real" natural spring!

By comparison, My mom is on city tap water and her water sucks, the water tastes & smells like chlorine which they use to purify it. I can't drink that stuff unless it sits in the fridge for a day while the chlorine evaporates out of it.

So don't judge well water out of ignorance. Like everything else in the world, these is good and bad in everything! Trust me, I have very picky taste-buds, I know when the water is gross, and I also know what good water is and the "best I ever had came from a well!" - Quote me on it!

>> ^PHJF:
I would die before drinking well water (even showering is bad enough, the smell is awful) but tap water is great. And I get water with a (free!) lemon slice at restaurants, but only to save money. Lemon slices make any water delectable. Except well water.

IF YOU USE CONDOMS YOU WILL NOT BE RAPTURED

xxovercastxx says...

So let me get this straight... not only will condoms keep me safe from STDs and unwanted pregnancies, they'll also protect me from spending eternity with a bunch of delusional, self-righteous Christians? Fuckin'-A, I'm gonna wear a condom 24 hours a day!

>> ^Drax:
Why is there a camera cut every time he finishes a sentence? Is he laughing between takes?

I'm guessing the cameraman couldn't hold it together for more than 2-3 sentences at a time. Whether he was laughing or passing out from a stupid OD remains unknown.

>> ^Lann:
So why not just use a condom or something that works better if that's the end goal?

It's precisely because rhythm method and pulling out are less effective that they promote them. They want their followers to "be fruitful and multiply" even if by accident.

Microsoft once admitted that they would rather people pirate their software than to legally obtain a competing product. Why? Because their monopolies would be protected. If you use MS Office, legal or not, you are still perpetuating vendor lock-in.

Completion of this analogy is left as an exercise for the reader.

Choggie's Latest Manifesto - Via Pre Screamager

therealblankman says...

Our own Choggie Kendall, leading the charge with a little social commentary.

You can tell he's not totally batshit insane, if he was the following would be single-spaced...

"T.V., it
satellite links
our United States of Unconsciousness
Apathetic therapeutic and extremely addictive
The methadone metronome pumping out
150 channels 24 hours a day
you can flip through all of them
and still there's nothing worth watching"

To all the local and national twits who call themselves purveyors of information, journalists, and any other such felicitous and inappropriate moniker used to describe their bile. Get a REAL job, assholes!!!"

The 912 Teabagger Assault on Washington

Xaielao says...

This is why the republicans won't be in power in 2012. Not because their base contains so many wackos as this video so clearly shows...

..but because to many republicans in power agree with them.

To me it's a constant source of laughter. After 8 years of Bush and only 8 months of Obama, to see these people and FAUX News go so ape shit crazy after only 8 months! And the whole 'loosing our civil liberties' under Obama. Were all these people asleep over the last 8 years? No.. they are so heavily partisan they simply refused to acknowledge what was going on during that time.

And Obama = Hitler because he took over the banks? Hello, that was Bush's cronies that bailed out the banks, not Obama you retards. Don't you guys remember his economic leaders asking for billions and wanting no way it could be tracked and no details on how it would be spent?

Why don't they just outright say he's Satan or the 3rd anti-christ?

Oh thats right.. they already have.

As to people voting for him now leaving. They need to wake up and realize the mans not a god. He wasn't gonna change the country into butterflies and rainbows with a snap of his fingers and an Alakazam. The country was and remains in the second largest economic crisis in history. Things are bouncing back but they take time. I can agree that the mans not be as forceful as he should be at times, and tries perhaps to hard to be bipartisan when republicans fold their arms and go 'HUR!' like spoiled children. But let the man do what we elected him to do for Christ sakes. At least he is finally starting to get tough on health care reform. He's let republicans control the debate for to long. A strong silent majority want a public option and the vast majority of doctors in this country want one with extremely overwhelming numbers wanting reform at the LEAST.

It doesn't help that every single major news organization gives 24 hours a day coverage of tea parties and partisan bullshit. They need to cover the truth, not the debate. CNN is as much guilty as FOX.

Mike Tyson The Most Unintentionally Funny Man On The Earth

holymackerel013 says...

His IQ score must barely be above retardation levels and he certainly suffers from major antisocial personality disorder. I would feel sorry for him except that he has raped at least one person and intentionally hurt many other people.

He should be in jail or under 24 hour a day psychiatric supervision.

Jim Cramer Responds to Jon Stewart w/ Help from Scarborough

rychan says...

>> ^buzz:
Seriouly, what a fucking moron. Does Jon Stewart (or more appropriately in this example) Comedy Central hold himself up as an "expert"? All the networks have their experts and bill it as "If you want the best financial advice, get the real deal from our expert (insert name here)."
To compare the two is idiotic!
At least the Cramer guy is going "Well, he's a comic, what d'ya want?"

Exactly. Cramer's comeback is "Well I don't see Stewart giving any financial advice". Well Stewart never claimed to. You're the one who's advice has been harmful to people and harmful to the economy.

And they complain about Jon using people's own words against them? As if that's somehow out of bounds? As if he's stalking them "24 hours a day" and using things out of context? No, it's clips from your freaking television shows broadcast to millions of people. Don't complain that someone calls you on your hypocrisy.

The Library Rave Flashmob

handmethekeysyou says...

At my school we had a tradition called primal scream. Everyone met on the quad at midnight the night before final exams began and screamed as loud as they could at the stroke of 12. There were usually fire jugglers, dancers, and breathers. And of course a plethora of streakers. Oh the streakers. One semester the streakers stormed the library to remind everyone too wrapped up in studying that we were there not just to put our noses to the grind stone 24 hours a day but to come together and celebrate ourselves and our world. Upvote for the memories and a reminder of the sense of community that one frequently loses after college...f*ck now my depressed.

CNN Meteorologist: Accepting Global Warming is Arrogant

Structure says...

Some people seem to confuse regional temperature changes with global average temperature changes. The Medieval Warming Period, or NAMBLA, was limited to a small region and didn't reach the temperatures we've had in the last 20-30 years.

Like the "expert" in the video said himself: The earth is a big place. So why do they act like local weather trumps global averages?

interesting part of a blog post on the subject (with sources)

"To think we could effect weather all that much". Well, there are 6.7 billion of us and all those factories and power plants running 24 hours a day.
