Woman Refuses to Leave Uber Car

Babymech says...

I don't know if it will help either, but it definitely seems like his frustration was that of someone who lacks a stable work place with rules for situations like this. If he had been working for a (good) taxi service there would have been a protocol in place for him to follow, but it's obvious from his frustration that he has no idea how to deal with her. That shouldn't be the situation in any well-regulated work place.

At the same time I agree - very few taxi services today are well regulated work places, so the entire business of private transport seems to be in a bad place when it comes to working environments.

I'm not sure how that will help....as if Taxi drivers never get rude and/or lose their shit?

That said...it is a service badly in need of regulation and licenses.

Penn Jillette in a room full of dummies

I actually think they are all correct to some degree.

Speaking from personal experience, growing up in a household where you don't feel like you can rely or speak to someone when you really need it does making growing up tough. If you don't have supportive friends to make up for the lack of "love" you get at home, the world can seem like a pretty awful place.

At the same time video games provided me with an escape from that reality (where others might have turned to drugs or perhaps violence).

So I can see where both arguments are coming from.

Different people will be inspired by different things. Wasn't the guy that killed John Lennon inspired by "The Catcher in the Rye"?

The blame is on the parents ultimately though, because the child should have never gotten to the point where they see violence as an option.

The "Amazing Glass Of Water Science Stunt"

heathen says...

The first part where the paper keeps the water in is true, provided no air can enter the glass the water can't fall out.

The second part where the water stays in after the paper is removed is fake, normally achieved by a transparent plastic disc (the size of the mouth of the glass) being lifted into place at the same time as the paper.

Awesome Timberland Commercial

the FUCK did those animals all run in the same place at the same time. The effects are actually pretty bad. The gall to actually try to pass this off as authentic in this day in age is unbelievable.
I mean... look at 0:43 when the guy runs into the bear. It's unbelievably poorly done. It's like someone had an accident with the photoshop clone tool. There's a branch and actual sky in front of the bear.

My Favourite Salvia Video - Driving on Salvia

GoShogun says...

Smoking salvia has been one of the most interesting experiences of my life. I smoked it once on the tail end of a mushroom trip and I saw everything in fractals but the trippiest part was that each segment of the fractal I was seeing was moving at different times and speeds. So when I looked at someone talking, for example, I actually experienced seeing one side of his mouth move and then the other side later on for the same word spoken.

Another time, I experienced a complete disconnect from my perception of time. Not sure how to describe it, but I felt like I was in yesterday, today and tommorrow all at the same time. I had been sitting earlier on then somehow managed to gather the strength (and courage) to stand and take a few steps yet my brain seemed to be "experiencing" both the sitting and the standing at the same time. It was the closest feeling I ever had to being many places at the same time.

Some people would find this freaky and that's understandable. I thought it was absolutely fascinating and I'd recommend it to anyone at least once.

Parallel Universes DO Exist. I kid you not.

NeuralNoise says...

The best way to hide a lie is between truths.

I have to agree that the pop-isnhess of this presentation, and the way it interprets stuff, seem rather misleading.

He says, as an example: particles can be in two places at the same time. That is correct. He says he is made of particles, so he should be able to do the same... That is not correct. Well, tha laws of the quantum world DO NOT apply in the larger scale, and that is precisely why scientist have a hard time combining quantum physics (very small) with relativity (rather large).

Like that BS movie, "what the **** do we know". They have scientists saying somre pretty interesting and correct stuff there. But they also made up emotional water, and there is a blond woman who is chanelling an alien starfleet spirit.

3 soldiers talk about their deployment in Iraq

legacy0100 says...

@Harsh talkers

Don't label our troops like that Chaffinch. It has a lot to do with which part of country you are from and the current situation you're in.

Some people (including 3 of my college buddies) just wanna better themselves and travel to exotic places at the same time. It's similar to volunteering for peace Corp or Christian groups as they tell you where to go and give you free training, except you get to shoot guns.

You could say that they can travel and help people without joining an army or any type of organization. Well, then how? Unless you're wealthy, I don't see a way for an individual to move into an exotic place whom speak foreign language, with limited money, and no local connections. That's why people join armies and volunteer groups.

Also volunteer groups can be just as aggressive as government Army when it comes to achieving their purpose, like spreading Christianity to local populace or giving power to indigenous people, meanwhile the regional government considers them rebels and danger to public safety. OR scientists valuing some endangered rats over starving humans, and convincing the government to prevent them from farming in the region.

Overall, ANY type of foreign intervention's outcome can result good or bad. But just because this particular time they did bad, doesn't mean you can call these people 'stupid'. Why, because they wanted to see something exotic? Be somewhere far away from home for once? Blame the government and people who agreed to goto war with Iraq (which was what, 99% of the nation after 9/11?) instead of the good people who volunteered.
