The sad thing, it won't make a lick of difference.

I listen to ppl in Aus bemoaning the loss of a local manufacturing industry and other jobs because everything is getting outsourced to cheaper China or India. But they won't spend an extra cent than they have to to buy the quality product and support locals.

We are victims of our own making. If a person bullies you, you either stand up to them, ask for help, or allow it/run away from it. We sate our desire for freedom by purchasing more things we don't need, filling our lives with junk that doesn't make us happy, but distracts us momentarily from the state we are in. We don't take responsibility for allowing the rich, the corps, the gov running over us and taking away our rights. We complain on the internet but won't take to the streets, and feel like we've made a difference even as we get soaked as the hurricane blows our piss back in our face.

We are the problem. The US was founded on the grass roots movement against British imperialism. I'm an Australian and I understand that. It's not until US citizens get that and actually decide to do something about it that anything will change.

And when nothing changes and we're slaves to the corporate machine with no recourse, we'll blame everything but ourselves.

I suspect that the difference in costs between hiring local (possibly unionized) workers at a decent wage plus benefits is going to cost that business a far sight more than a few cents. So I don't think it would matter if people were willing to pay more, companies would move everything overseas anyway because they can make even more by doing that.

Sadly that trailer went tinfoil hat real quick.

Too heavy handed. As soon as the dramatic music kicks in, they appear manipulative and it invalidates anything they say afterward. Doesn't matter how much truth is in it, you can't sway or educate those of a different mindset by manipulation or talking down to them.

now i understand your criticisms and they are not exactly wrong,but rather too over-simplified in my opinion.

what i DON'T understand is how you can bring that same criticism for a trailer.this is a small sniglet to get people to watch this movie.a glimpse of the content using dramatic music and flashy visual imagery all with the specific intent:to get people to watch this movie.

this tactic is used for every trailer,every commercial for a tv show or reality series,it is even used to sell BOOKS!

and to postulate that the mere appearance of manipulation invalidates the content,even if true,is illogic made manifest.

of course a documentary is going to have a certain bias,they are trying to make a point,but if the facts are solid and the logic reasonable..who cares if they use dramatic music to set the tone?

chomsky relays some of the most in-depth criticisms of american hegemony but he also is soft spoken and monotone.he puts many people to sleep.so it doesnt matter that his facts are backed by reams and reams of data,he simply bores many people.

see what im saying? because it appears to me,THAT is what you would prefer.no music,no dramatic production,just straight facts delivered in a monotone voice.
