Tornado forms near I-90 in Amsterdam, NY on Sept 4, 2011

This is from about 2 hours ago. This woman pulled over to wait for the rain to ease up and unwittingly records the formation of a tornado.

I wasn't going to judge at first; or at least I was going to silently judge; but the woman recording this (Lindsay Phillips) is a meteorologist and storm chaser and this is not her first close encounter with a tornado. You'd think she could hold it together a little better.

The tornado appears around the 5:50 mark.

Hey, I'm from that area and believe me, it has it coming.

I'm a little confused if there was 1 or 2. I first heard about one touching down in Amsterdam then one of my friends in Albany posted this video on Facebook. This video is apparently in Mohawk, 40 miles away, but I keep seeing this video used in reference to the Amsterdam tornado.

Ok, I got my confusion cleared up. Apparently the Mohawk rest area is not in Mohawk, it's in Amsterdam. There's only one tornado.

She knows the danger she is in. It was already very close when she first saw it. Too late to get away. Just have to hope it doesn't kill her. She has no say in the matter at that point.

Therefore she knows how dangerous they are. So she has every right to be scared, right? And in any case, I think she holds it together pretty well! I've have been crapping myself.
