This is how we do demolition in Vancouver.

This is the first of 2 videos showing the demolition of a 3 story building in downtown Vancouver yesterday, June 10 2010. A crane knocks the wall over into traffic narrowly missing at least one pedestrian and hitting at least one passing car. A few minutes later the same crane operator did it AGAIN, knocking the remaining wall into the street and destroying a city lamp post.

You know, there are a few unfortunate, untimely ways I'd be willing to accept as the end to my existence. Plane crash, auto crash, things of that nature. I mean, no one WANTS to go, but I wouldn't be embarassed to have them on my obituary.

Being crushed by someone's stupidity, however, would be considered unacceptable.

"A crane knocks the wall over into traffic narrowly missing at least one pedestrian"

Unless there was someone standing right next to that wall the entire time, I didn't see anyone walking in from the left or right in the clip. It definitely looks like a car was hit by debris, but not a person though...

Wouldn't you put up lean-to beams (or whatever you call em) against the wall to stop it falling out?
