i think there is a defind difrence between a descusoin about a posabilty of a entity that creats all. and a descusoin looking at common interpritatoins of god that are tyed into law and have dogma acocated with them whitch removes all posability for legitimate and logical ratoinal descusoin.

i think Denys Turner is in denial, he tries to avoid answering questions and changes the subject. i understand this though, i seriously would like to believe in a god or a reason behind doing things for a greater purpose. but why the christian god and jesus though?! that's just picking and choosing, there's no reason why that one over any other, you end up just lying to yourself...
i would think the answer lies in the anthropic principle and that on the largest scale we live in an infinite chaotic metaverse.
just 'some-thing' existing would require some kind of choice, whereas a no choice ultimate 'every-thing' would be the only real way to explain our existence.
there are probabilities in infinity, this is a more probable place and existence than any whacky places we could think of. though i think beyond this bubble universe we're in will be an ocean of similar existing planes, our multiverse, which would have evolved in the chaos because pretty much anything would come to exist- and this would have to have happened.
this is straight forward common sense to me, though it doesnt give life much meaning. i think it's possible to find a greater purpose within this though, i think you just have to answer to yourself, as in being your own God. feel free to lie to yourself, carry on

absolutely wonderful anecdote at 13min.

ends well... talking about how the specifics of his faith is not up for philosophical debate; "you either accept my position or you don't"
