System Shock 2 Intro

Nothing compares to the experience of System Shock 2. One of my favorite games. System Shock 2 (commonly abbreviated SS2) is a science fiction horror-themed first-person shooter which incorporates a number of elements commonly seen in computer role-playing games. It was developed by Looking Glass Studios and Looking Glass offshoot Irrational Games, and was released on August 11, 1999 by publisher Electronic Arts. It is a direct sequel to the seminal 1994 Looking Glass Studios computer game System Shock, with which it shares the same hybrid gameplay style. The game appears on a number of "Best Games of All Time" lists and has a strong fan base.

Agreed on that.

I loved how engrossing the game was just based off the superbly acted out audio logs. Actually the entire sonic sound scape of the game was amazing.

So when exactly is Bioshock coming out? I'm looking forward to it.

This game reminds me of one of those movies where the hero has to do something really simple but before he can do that he has to do something else, and before he can do that, he has to... I mean, your original goal is to get on a freaking elevator. 30 hours of game play later, you're still not there.

Yeah, this vid brought pack the chills from when I first played this - great sift. I always wanted to replay as one of the other two classes but I think I lent the disc to a friend and it disappeared.

Loved this game. Not only did it have great gameplay, but the atmosphere was perfect too. And for upgraded graphics, there's the System Shock: Rebirth mod. (Linked to on Wikipedia.)

Problem? It's basically impossible to program believable interactions with other people in a single-player game. Solution? Create a game where you won't ever have a chance to interact with other people, because EVERYONE IS DEAD BUT YOU and some people who send you one-way messages.
