gwiz665says...This looks awesome!
Sagemindsays...Finally! - A movie that looks original and different!
A Super NerdCore, Action-Romance Teen Movie.
-I'm getting tired of all the "remakes and formula movies" - This looks like a departure
Yogisays...This looks to deliver on everything Kick-Ass didn't...and I liked Kick-Ass. Also directed by the guy who did Hot Fuzz, already a huge winner.
dannym3141says...Looks rubbish to me. A cross between <cookie cutter teen romance crap> and my super ex girlfriend mixed with flavour-of-the-month kickass. Dunno why you three are so excited.
wakasays...Michael Cera plays...Michael Cera.

Edgar Wright
Hot fuzz, shaun of the dead, spaced, it has to be alright :]
jcf79says...Count me in on the Edgar Wright fanboy train (hmmm, something about that phrasing just dosn't sound right... anyways) Wondering if there's going to be any Pegg/Frost cameo?
thinker247says...Mr. Ebert, I presume?>> ^dannym3141:

residuesays...The 2D art is done by Paul Robertson, which is also awesome. He's the guy behind Kings of Power 4billion% and Pirate baby's cabana battle street fight 2006
sadicioussays...Odd that I thought of "No More Heroes" when I saw this?

If we're not allowed to review things unless we're professional reviewers, you better say the same to the other people who commented before me.
randomizesays...*CANADA WOOOOOOOOO!
siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Canada) - requested by randomize.

If you haven't read the series, I highly suggest you do. The whole point of the books (which do pre-date the Michael Cera-starring teen movie genre you complain about) was to subvert the whole genre (that being said, subsequently casting Michael Cera may have shot that point in the face a bit). They really are well written and play with the dynamic between Scott and Ramona very effectively. If you wanna change your mind about something, look them up.

Not to me... It was my first thought too. My second thought was "Wait, this actually looks awesome."
thinker247says...What I meant by my statement was that Roger Ebert was especially harsh when critiquing dumb comedies, such as this film. I've read many of your statements about comedy sifts, and you rarely find anything funny. It's not a condemnation; merely an opinion.>> ^dannym3141:

That's perfectly fair enough, i take it back.
You're right, i don't find many sifts funny. I'm not into boil-in-the-bag humour.. you know, x is a family man but he's got daughter y who's unruly, daughter x who's rock n roll, etc. etc. comedy ensues.
I like comedy that tries harder, where i can't predict every single damned punchline. Stuff like the office, extras. The big lebowski. mitchell and webb and peep show. Curb your enthusiasm. That kinda stuff.
I think the people who make sitcoms like friends, big bang theory are guilty of lazyness. They don't try hard enough for me and i can second guess them.
gwiz665says...Watch Arrested Development. It's fantastic.

mgittlesays...I enjoy both the lazy comedies and the stuff that tries harder, is that bad in your opinion?
Also, do you watch Louie? Mr. C.K.'s new show is recommended (as well as the Arrested Development suggestion above).

dannym3141says...@mgittle i don't think anyone's bad for liking things, i just can't find any comedy in jokes that i could make. I don't mean that to sound in a jealous 'omg i could do better' way, i just mean that as i observe a situation unfolding, i can see exactly when and how the punchlines are going to occur. Obviously, i get it wrong sometimes, and honestly those times are the few times i ever laugh at friends-level comedy programs.
