KnivesOutsays...

On the other hand, he'll never mobilize the "base" (e.g. evangelicals) with his lefty thoughts about personal liberty. They're much more interested in dictating how the general public lives.

I'll say this, he's 10x more palatable than his son.>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:

The right wing media network has been giving him much love lately. Perhaps they realize he is the only Republican with a shot at beating Obama.

Yogisays...

>> ^LarsaruS:

Whomever becomes president in the US of A has an effect on world affairs. Just my 2 cents

Not really...if Obama wanted to suddenly stop funding Israel his party would go insane...and the government wouldn't allow it. Obama has some say that's true but not much because that wouldn't be smart for the masters who run the country.

The Republican base will do as they're told. >> ^KnivesOut:

Unfortunately, despite being completely right on every point, Ron Paul's policies would cause a lot of rich people to lose a lot of money, so he won't get into power, they'll make sure of it.

Grimmsays...

He says personally he doesn't care about pushing his standard for marriage on others and that the government should not be involved in "marriage". But he doesn't think it's up to the Federal government to impose one way or the other on the states.>> ^VoodooV:

If it's not ok for federal gov't to have a say in marriage, why is it ok for states to have a say?

VoodooVsays...

I believe he says, on two occasions, that it's not ok for the Feds to dictate social things like gay marriage, but that it's up to the states to decide.

So my question, again, is: If it's not OK for the Feds to have a say in gay marriage, how come it's OK for the states to have a say?

ravermansays...

Ron Paul is probably the only voice from the right that has a honor, speaks his belief and sticks to them.

But can anyone win without saying only what people want to hear and skirting around hard topics?
Sad to say that only politicians who smile and lie between their teeth stand a chance of high office.
