Ray Rice Elevator Knock Out of his Fiance

eric3579says...

Subsequently Ray Rice has been cut by the Baltimore Ravens, and indefinably suspended by the NFL. Much more appropriate punishment then the two game suspension the NFL had given him originally. Crazy thing is they end up getting married.

-edit-
New Jersey basically gave him a free pass in this case. Felony third degree aggravated assault and he received no jail time.

Yeah but in a really stupid way I feel. As far as I've heard he got off with a slap on the wrist when it comes to the law. This business with the NFL and his team had to be basically forced to occur. Everyone was pissed and even then they were going to do anything until the whole movie came out.

However the actual Law, that which should've handled this much much better let him off with practically nothing. He was going to go back to work 3 weeks into the season, how does that make any sense.

I normally don't like a sports organization acting as judge jury and executioner especially when the Court decides nothing happened, innocent until proven guilty. In this case though I'm dead wrong, our courts are only for the rich.

His football career is likely over, but he's made about 28 million in the last six years and will loose 10-13 million from his remaining 3 year contract. Seems all in all he made out pretty good for being such a huge cunt. Also doesn't have to do a day in jail.

All you guys that are saying he got what he deserved are hypocrites and you are obviously not watching the video.

Side note, I dont think a person should hit another person (outside of sports), whether its male/female, male/male, or female/female.

We dont know what occurred before this video but I doubt she is saying, "What do you think of this carpet, looks great doesnt it." When you look at the evidence, she slaps him outside of the elevator. Then she hits him again in the elevator. This is all before he even strikes her. Then he strikes her most likely as a reflex. He is trapped in an elevator so he cannot remove himself from the situation so he moves to the far side of the elevator (people conveniently leave this out when they talk about this). She then CHARGES him, fist leading the way. Rice has no choice but to defend himself and strikes her a 2nd time, knocking her out.

The video evidence shows the bitch deserved it. He is being prosecuted by people who want to see what they want to and not the truth. Which is terrible because its affecting his ability to have a career.

Look at it from this angle, if Rice did nothing and she damaged his eye which kept him from playing. All you assholes that say he deserves it now, would be saying "he should have defended himself" or "I would have knocked that bitch out." You cannot deny this as you people jump from one bandwagon to the next instead of relying on the truth to make a judgement.

Chaucer, don't be a misogynist. There's NEVER any justification for hitting a woman. It doesn't matter if she's slapping you, punching you, charging you, strangling you, stabbing you or shooting at you. There's no such thing as self-defense when the victim is a man and the attacker is a woman. Clearly women pose no threat to men so there's no need to respond to their physical attacks. Take it like a man and then beg for forgiveness when she's finished with you.

I have two girls and I have taught them that they deserve equality with men in all things. I have told them that, short of self defence, they should never take advantage of their femininity by resorting to violence against anyone because the "victim" of their violence would be justified in retaliating. Going by what this vid shows it appears the woman, not once, but twice, assaulted the man. Maybe he could have restrained her, but it appears he just lashed out in self-defence. Your comment implies woman have the right to do this with impunity and without consequence. You are wrong. Equality means just that, it does NOT mean that in selected circumstances some are more equal than others. All violence is, when perpetrated without just cause, wrong. But your comment that; "It doesn't matter if she's slapping you, punching you, charging you, strangling you, stabbing you or shooting at you," is ridiculous. If a woman - or anybody for that matter - attempts any of the above, then self defence is totally justified. To deny this is to give woman the right to resort to violence in the belief that misguided opinion, such as yours, will be on their side.

@A10anis, I think you misread @Jerykk s post. He's clearly being sarcastic.

And yeah, if a woman (or anyone) is assaulting you, of course you are within your rights to defend yourself.

But it must be a proportional response. You can't (as is the case here) seriously assault someone for a minor assault. Some jurisdictions also take the relative capabilities of the attacker into consideration as well (i.e. if you are a trained boxer or martial artist or if there is a huge strength disparity).

This idiot was completely out of line in his response.
