PS3 Delivers the Graphics!!! (WYSIWYG!)

charlatantricsays...

I'm so excited for this new line of gaming to come out. However, I do think Sony's missed the mark by focusing on simply giving games a face-lift. It's actually bad for the industry for the #1 player in the market to stick to their guns. It'll be a sad state of affairs if the Wii collapses because it will just hinder innovation. Then all we can expect is the same old-same old for the next 10 years.

ps3 will suport alot of games more than 2,000 came out for ps2 alot of games will be eye candy alot wont its just a platform. price wise it dose seem a bit dear but u know sony will drop it. 360 ps3 and wii should all do well. should be cool to play on it in the shops. i think alot of people will get 360+wii ore ps3+wii. sony do have some nice non graphical but game play orentated titles coming out just as 360 dose so dont worry to mutch.

well, some of that stuff is pre-rendered, but the PS3 could do this in real-time without a doubt...
it's a nice piece of hardware, and it's also got some promising games like Metal Gear Solid 4, 8 Days and Heavenly Sword...but come on, sixhundred dollars? that's ridiculous...it'll take years until the game developers will be able to use the PS3's whole power, so they should just have developed a less powerful console in the first place...
most PS3 games don't look any better than the better looking X360 games (like Gears of War), so a console for like 300-400$ would be enough for now...the sad thing is, that many people WILL pay that much money for the PS3, without even considering an XBox360 or Wii...

personally, I'm going to get a Wii this year...games have been almost the same since they made their step into 3D, so it's time something new happens...

To an extent - However, the process a real time engine uses to render a scene is vastly different because of the limits both software and hardware impose; compared to a scene created in Maya or Softimage which is then somtimes rendered with additional layers of detail and effects. When using a PC to render a scene it pulls from pre-defined 'rules' that are compliant with 3D APIs like OPEN-GL or Direct3D - And it's with those pre-set boundries that are limiting the realism we all crave.

bnsasays...

It seems some people don't have faith in what they see anymore because of pre-rendering in the past (Think: Grand Turismo series) HOWEVER, the next generation is intergrating the pre-rendering INTO the game so it happens in real time.

Looking at the above actual game play footage, 95% IS the real deal. I posted this to show the potential that will be the standard in which all other games will be measured. The final test will be seeing it at game stores, Walmart, and in real life with our friends as early as three months from now.

BNSA is quite right. Pre-rendered always makes rendered before display. Almost all the PS3 games can now run at near pre-rendered quality at 60FPS (no IK or anything more complex then ragdolls).

However that's all you are paying for.

Don't expect new A.I. or new gameplay...
