New York to LA in 45 Minutes!!

Tube transportation project.
Yogisays...

Our public transportation is a joke compared to other countries. Sold out to the oil companies and car manufacturers. Obama is even trying to bring some high speed rail here, but he sends his people to Spain to learn how. Idiot we know how, it's a fucking crock.

God wouldn't this be a dream come true? Even if it were as expensive as a flight (though would realistically be more so due to demand), I would pay this out in an instant to move from the East coast to see my family in California. Jesus. 45 minutes.

I'm just going to dream about that for a little while...

And when the vacuum fails? When something goes wrong at 6500 kph, it really goes wrong big-time. This isn't a new idea, and from what I've read, hasn't been realized because in reality, the risks are too great.

Yea, maintaining the integrity of a 3000 mile vacuum tube sounds pretty impossible, especially if your are trying to be frugal and only spend 1/4 of what it costs to build a highway...

It would be cool, though.
