I worked on the animated series that inspired the M.Knight live-action feature series, and as much as I am not into the director of my hard work, this looks like it could be 100000000x better than I ever expected.

The 3D is not an encouraging sign.

I see this sentiment quite a bit (something like: "3d is bad", "3d is a gimmick", "instead of making a 3d movie, why don't they make a good one"), but I don't really get it. Since the current 3d wave started I've seen 3 features using it: Avatar, Train Your Dragon, and Up (well, and some random wildlife films and what not at the science center). All 3 were well above average films and - I think - all 3 benefited from having been shot and shown in 3d. Sure there's been some stinkers in 3d (or in faux-3d like Titans), but I think it's clear that the technology can be used well and in a way that makes the film more enjoyable.

Whether this film will be good, I don't know - but I'm happy to see it's going to be in 3d. With that, even if it's a turd it's likely to have some impressive effects shots.

The Last Airbender wasn't shot in 3D. That means it has to be converted in post (and will be faux-3D, like Clash of the Titans).
