Neil deGrasse Tyson on Life, the Universe, and Everything

Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium for the Museum of Natural History and former Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive (People Magazine 2000), gives a terrific talk about scientific history, astronomy, physics, the ludicracy of intelligent design, British postage stamps, religion, and atheism.

The NY Times has an interesting of certain aspects of the meeting this speech was given at, specifically the divide growing between religion and science. (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/21/science/21belief.html?ex=1171947600&en=955c27838291d647&ei=5070)

Some wonderful information here.
Ths zeal of the presentaion, reminds one of a revival meeting, this one for dimentionally-challenged, insectoid ectomorphs, again, a captive audience of piers and devout.
His theory and observations work both ways...It seems that of the most vocal and devout in this camp, cease their search for a spiritual understanding of the universe and beyond, once the preponderance of datum they have accumulated to explain the nature of the same is either satisfactory for the time being, or otherwise bound by perception-enslaved methods. Yet to be explained.....that is the hope that keeps us from destroying one another.....

It is also imperative, that we do not let a religio-fueled bunch of monkeys, deprive us all of a chance to continue the progress we have made in the last 200 years....the rate of discovery is exponential, as is the dilemma of back-assward, powerful elements of the human race, in the form of throwbacks created from the millenium-long stretch of dark ages in the Arabic world, following their brief explosion of knowledge. Now their father's sins have turned awarness against itself, and it is a race to come up with an end to delusion, before the diversion turns ugly.....
Precisely why the fueds over land must cease, find first the ones who use our ignorance against us, and destroy them, then keep the next couple of generations from being brainwashed, and the human race may have a chance......
