Nazi scrapbooks from Hell

"The recent discovery of a scrapbook belonging to a Nazi officer has raised some disturbing questions."

The capacity to murder, maim, torture and do any untold number of horrors to fellow humans, and animals, lies within every person on this planet. All it takes, is the proper catalyst.

It is a little simplistic really. I mean no-one really thought that they were horned beasts or somehow non-human, and enjoyed eating babies during their leisure time. It would be a coping mechanism to do so, to distance themselves from yourself, to say "I could never do anything of the sort".

But that would be a lie.

However, most of us would like to think that given the order to kill thousands of people including women and children, we would refuse... we really hope we would. But, what if the alternative was having your family killed by those further up? I think a number of people would indeed try and rationalize and justify killing the others, try and set in their mind that those they are killing are sub-human somehow, and so the killing of them isn't 'wrong'.

Given the choice between your own life and killing others I can imagine there'd be quite a few who could chose to die rather than kill... but it gets a whole, whole lot harder when your own family is threatened.

It takes oversight, open policies, and education to stop this type of action. You lack these elements these types of horrors can happen. It can happen in the US as well. CIA interrogations is a small example of this.
