Yogisays...They could also be doing this because the car is REALLY ugly.
conansays...final shot in front of a gas station.
:-)
Selektaasays...Watch something like this be the next big thing in crazy Fast and Furious car mods. Even if you didn't cover the windows, you could turn your car into a rolling video display. It'd be awesome for any kind of promotion
maatcsays...Shot mostly in Hamburg. That gas station at the end is on the corner of the famous Reeperbahn.
It is open all night and everyone buys cheap beer there (compared to the clubs). I heard they have the highest revenue of all european gas stations.
But I disgress. The agency that came up with this is Jung von Matt.
Fusionautsays...It was like the trees came alive...
Boise_Libsays...Zero Emissions?
Where do they get the H2?
Paybacksays...I know of at least 4 terrorist groups that will pay hard cash for this tech.
zombieatersays...Most fuel cell vehicles get hydrogen from natural gas = emissions (though less than gasoline vehicles).
However, another problem is that fuel cell vehicles are incredibly inefficient, in the ways of 47%. As a comparison, gasoline vehicles are about 37% efficient while electric vehicles are 99% efficient.
It's certainly no magic bullet, but it's better than the shit we have now, that's for sure.
Ickstersays...I loathe Mercedes, but that was frickin' cool.
bmacs27says...I might be wrong, but I don't think I am. I'm pretty sure the effect would only work from one angle, as otherwise the same LEDs would need to be able to display different information depending on your viewing angle. So yea, the car is "invisible" from exactly one position.
jmdsays...bmacs, I am sure the farther away from the target, the less likely you notice the aspect change. That said, Benze did like, the LEAST AMOUNT of work they possibly could on this.
#1 The LED screen is pretty low resolution, there are tighter nit LED screens out there. IMO they should have hooked up with one of the many R&D departments out there and used a cloth/paper flexable LED tarp.
#2 They only did one side, why not the other? Heck, have a third one for the top screen, it wouldn't be under the car but instead on the pumper to sample the ambient lighted area around it and create a floor pattern to use. The up/down shot would require a bit more work but would be even more impressive.
