As stupid as Ms Fords comments were TYT have mistaken causal responsibility with culpability. The comments were about minimising opportunity rather than any kind of moral judgement as pertaining to "asking for it". The outrage expressed here is a matter of (purposely?) misrepresenting intentions.

Rapists don't rape only women who dress "like whores", though.

@messenger's link is spot on: rape is the fault of the rapist, and the culture that breeds human (sexual) objectification. As a society we need to stop focusing on the "how not to get raped" and start working on the "how not to become a rapist". Very, very few rapes/instances of sexual abuse are the acts of psychopaths/mentally ill.

And it's not just a snarky retort either. These messages can actually prevent rape by raising awareness and responsibility in would-be rapist men.

An Arizona cop recently drove drunk to a bar and sexually assaulted someone there. He was convicted, but the judge cautioned the victim that if she hadn't been there, it wouldn't have happened.

Under public pressure, she issued an apology a few days later.

10. Don’t forget: Honesty is the best policy. When asking a woman out on a date, don’t pretend that you are interested in her as a person; tell her straight up that you expect to be raping her later. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the woman may take it as a sign that you do not plan to rape her.
