I'm not even quite sure why, but this doesn't really sit right with me somehow. Hearing the kids sing the lyrics is certainly strange. Would any of the kids or parents know what the hell the song is from or about?

The song is a good one, but it does sound a bit... odd coming from kids. I personally wouldn't care if my kid was up there and I would *hope* that any parent with half a brain who looked up the story behind it would think likewise.
Buuuuuut I can almost categorically guarantee that some parent is going to see this, hear "except the ones who are dead" and "and the science gets done and you make a neat gun for the people who are still alive" and instantly assume its about evil scientists murdering people with a new gun and how awful that these people are making children sing this! Or something equally supercilious overblown or silly.

I don't see why this is a moral issue.

We brought the sheet music for this song along on a group camping trip a couple of years ago. Had a really excellent musician on the guitar who learned to play it perfectly from the sheet music in about an hour. All the kids on the trip practiced the words and they had a really fun time. We were the only parents who knew the background of the song but nobody thought it was innapropriate...just weird. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

Try not to overthink these things. Sometimes a fun song is just a fun song.

I have to agree with the epic tag... really well executed... and who doesn't want cake?

I didn't know the meanings of lyrcis as a kid too.

Not sure why my comment was downvoted, I can only assume looris didnt really read the whole thing. You can't honestly tell me that in a world where parents get offended and overprotective about the tiniest stupid thing that lyrics such as the ones I mentioned, if they were not aware of the context, would almost certainly spark an overreaction. If you don't think that, you have a problem with reality looris.
