The Conservatives are MAD MAD MAD about this ad.

An example:
Thanks a lot, Clint, for moving to the dark side. Apparently, at 82, he isn't as aware as he used to be and didn't realize there was an undercurrent of politics in the ad. I can't imagine any other reason why a guy who seems to want the best for this country - a guy who was once a Republican - would appear in a pro-union, pro-Democratic. pro-Obama ad.

This is FUN FUN FUN!

It's been funny to me that this has been something all the cable news bobbleheads had to weigh in on.

No, it's not explicitly political. It only seems that way because we've entered into some sort of crazy era where talk of pulling together and working to help each other out of a bad place has been turned into something controversial.

But yes, viewed through the media's lens of "How does what happened today impact the 2012 horserace?" this was good for Obama, because Obama's on the side that's rooting for America to get better, while the other side is saying that he is the sole cause of all of America's pain, and so it won't get better as long as he's in the White House.

Oh yes, and then there's also the bit where Obama was willing to bet on American industry to create jobs, when Wall Street and their lap dogs (the Republicans) wanted them to just die out -- they were Union shops, after all! More salt in the wounds for them, I guess, since if they'd gotten their way this company wouldn't exist anymore.

I guess the best part about this ad is that maybe it'll help people cut through the fog of all that, and realize that there is hope, and resilience in America. That times are hard, but they won't stay that way forever -- they never do.

And maybe, just maybe, they'll remember who was rooting for America to fail, and who had faith in it, even when it seemed we'd lost our way.

Hint: It ain't the people who are hopping mad about this ad.

I think the issue is that we can't just disagree with a few things on issues anymore. Republicans have to disagree with Obama in such strident terms it's as if they're saying Obama shouldn't even exist. That kinda turns off say the part of the country that voted for him. They do it simply because they need headlines...when Perry was nothing all he did was talk about Obama in a mean way and he got attention. It's an insane way to run a political system. It's a reality freakshow that in no way represents the people it's meant to. It's just a GIANT PR display where the person with the most money and best ads wins.

How can we stand it? Oh sorry...pizzas ready.
