I have to admit these McDonalds videos are doing it right from a communication standpoint. The language they use is very deliberate and parsed though. "We also add an ingredient to prevent the graying of the product". No mention of what it is. Except for adding the dextrose, it's pretty similar to how I cook potato chips. Each of the four main steps makes the end result better, but I usually omit the frozen stage (freezing reduces the water content a bit).
