God's Next Army (evangelical/political documentary @ 2:12)

A notorious Channel 4 documentary on the Patrick Henry College [for fundamentally crazy Christian political nut-jobs] and how they've provided a boot camp for ignorant, arrogant Republicans over their established six years of 'education' (up to the point of filming). Both hilarious and depressing at the same time; full of quotes like "with President Bush winning the election, I believe it brought us closer to the forces of light", "the key to understanding geologic observation is the flood of Genesis", "theology is imminently practical: it deals with life in it's reality" & "we don't need the worlds knowledge and information to guide us" (just the Bible!)...

I watched this - it was terrifying. The parallel with some Islamic madrassas is interesting - they both combine a literalist and simplistic interpretation of religion with blind adherence to a political ideology. And they both produce mindless drones - foot soldiers for their political masters.

The amount of lies in their rhetoric is disturbing. They also rubbish their own ideas. At 24 mins, one student claims that the validity of his religion being the only one to follow, over all others is, that it is "one of the oldest". Not the oldest but one of them. I would hate to engage in an argument with one so clear and concise .
I might try for a transfer to that place. Looks nice. Lots of nice innocence to corrupt

This school is walking on a thin line. They are a tax exempt organization. On their website they state:

Patrick Henry College is a not-for-profit corporation created and authorized to operate under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the College is a qualified charitable institution and contributions to PHC are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

However, the Internal Revenue Code bars all non-profit groups that hold 501(c)(3) tax status from endorsing or opposing candidates for public office.

19 mins: "We don't need the world's knowledge and information to guide us."

Obviously, no knowledge and information guides you.

Crazy people are fun to watch and all . . . but this is terrifying.

Btw, go to the school's website & look up their admissions requirements. You have to list all of the books you've read.

I should apply for fun. Do you think they'd be offended if I listed The God Delusion??
