I don't even believe that the snakes did anything. He basically just blocked as many holes as he could (using snakes instead of rocks), and then put a net on the open holes. Not impressed.

It's the same principal as the Virgin Galactic Spaceship 2 and White Knight. Rather than the cargo hold, it's the spaceship portion.

Technology at my parent's house is exactly like this...but it still works so why change?!

Assuming this actually happened...No one is talking about how anonymous technically had the ability to change votes however they would have liked...and how our electronic election system is completely FUBAR. This election it may have been Karl Rove/Anonymous, the next one it could even be a foreign power.

Not sure what survival tactic that was there...

It could be a defense mechanism...if we suddenly get blinded, we don't run in a straight line so we're harder to find or catch.
