Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Dr. Oz

sadicious says...

Marketing wouldn't be a thing if everybody did their research.

I personally don't have a problem with the sale as I do have with the false claims. Where else can you get away with that? I think that is what Oliver is going on about.

The Mystery of Motion Sickness

sadicious says...

I'm in the back seat with no air circulation, and I'll get sick almost immediately. Front seat in the same situation, and it takes several minutes. Driving, and I can go for an hour or so.

Open a window and things change. I can probably read a book in the back seat for 30 min, but if I need to change focus to horizon-book-horizon, I'll get sick faster. Same with interior-exterior-interior.. I've only ever been sick from video games once when I first played Descent, and with the invention of "Mask poor action scene with wobbly camera", I have felt a few small familiar headaches.

Winter Driving is Dangerous! Please slow down

sadicious says...

I noticed a few people who had the ability to slow down (winter tires?), but forgot to check their rear mirror for the people who don't have winter tires.

Just because you can stop, doesn't mean the 10,000 lbs of Mack truck on your bumper will have the same stopping power. Never a bad idea to at least glance in the direction you are accelerating.

Doug Stanhope - The Oklahoma Atheist

sadicious says...

I don't think he was so much wishing for terrible things as he was wishing for a disparity between non-belief (receiving tons of money) and belief (eating FEMA food rations). Nothing wrong with raising money for an idea that has the added benefit of helping a family out.

Stanhope reinforced to me that, religion aside, he is a true asshole (for wishing terrible things for others for their belief systems).

Sportsmanship And A Big F**k You To The Ref

sadicious says...

Let's say ref's have to follow the rules despite sportsmanship: How is it the goalkeeper's fault to not clear the ball in time if the opposing team is holding onto his foot?

South Park On Cable Companies

sadicious says...

I already notice this on the internet. Like when you subscribe to one porn site, it ends up giving you membership to content you would rather not have. Why can't we all save money by buying only the porn we watch?

Channel lineups are negotiated by the providers not the cable companies and your rates are largely the providers fault as well (blame espn...alot). Also a cable company can stop service the same day you ask them too since the service is authorized electronically, not dependent on a cable being connected. But no its cool, keep blaming the cable companies, and watch as "Internet tv" options end up charging you just as much and forcing you to buy packages the same way to watch content that was provided to the cable companies two nights earlier.
