I would sincerely love for the source of this video to be changed please. The owner is a troll (see their list of uploaded copied videos with amended titles and descriptions). I made a comment on there and was immediately blocked. Notice that all comments on there are pro-poster and no one sticks up for the "terrorist" at all. I'd rather not give this guy any more views if I can help it.

Someone linked to how to make it and it's melted sugar with syrup and vinegar essentially. Same problems with making fudge where there can be problems with crystalisation.

I agree I wouldn't have messed with the cop then unless it became life threatening/permanently damaging to the victim. The best thing would be to film things like this and get the cop in as much trouble as possible - that way you would not have ended up being arrested where your credibility goes down and any videos if already filmed will most likely be deleted before they see the light of day.

Badge or no badge... well I mean completely in that situation, so formal garments and badge alike, I would of went after the cop after the baton came out. That is not right and thats that. The cat was first confused with the little bounces then when she jumped higher he clearly wanted to get off. He first dug his claws in and when the bouncing didn't stop he tried to haul ass out of there as quickly as he could digging his claws in alternately.

I'd like to see the police as more part of the community. For there to be the same police persons assigned to the same areas day in day out on foot e.g. for most people who live in the area to see them once a week at least walking by or helping an old lady cross the road etc.
Get to know the people in your particular area - be able to relate and keep an eye on what is happening.
Build a good rapport with those who live in your designated area.
Join in with community events and show themselves to be one of the people who are able to let their hair down and have fun like everyone else.
Use common sense, if you found your son underaged trying drugs would you take him to jail or warn him and try to get him help? Extend that to those in your neighbourhood - if you find some other teenagers trying drugs, what would you do?

Hopefully this would improve the currently negative perceptions people hold of the police and for the police to understand the local citizens better, treating people with a bit of heart and empathy along with less of a chance of being so distant and the feeling of being "above" everyone else.

Seriously, anyone comparing this scenario with the privatisation of currently public services (with free market competition) are clearly confused.

This as others have pointed out is still a public service just not paid with their other taxes. It isn't like they will allow someone else to compete by setting up another fire department in town.

If I cried when I didn't get compensation for my house after it gets broken into and wrecked by a robber because I didn't get home/contents insurance then will this be all over the news?
Like the man said, he forgot to pay. The difference here is that there can be lives at risk because of a fire as opposed to finding the house wrecked after-the-fact. Something could have been done at the time to save those animals.

Fair enough if that fire department will not provide a service that someone did not pay for - but if this is how you want to do it, do not stop someone else from setting up their own fire fighting service so that if *you* won't save that house or those pets, they can!
And in return they can either operate as a charity or as a business and charge x amount with the option of various payment plans. In addition, people can then take out fire insurance plans that will pay for this service should the time comes.

There are people here commenting on how we need to protect idiots from themselves but how are people going to learn to look after themselves when they rely on someone else to do it?
This man had a responsibility to look after his home, his family and pets. It's up to him to remember to pay insurance etc, but it is unfortunate in this world that he was not able to call another fire service who would have come to help him put out the fire.

If you are saying that some people are too retarded to pay for their own insurance or to look after themselves, you should also ban them from having children and pets! If they can't look after themselves it would not be ethical for you to allow them to take responsibility for someone else... Why not when you are all for using force anyway. What difference does it make if you take something else away from others?
