Drunk Driving Test Fail

Royal Navy Field Gun Competition

At 1:40 they have to construct a "high" wire and pulley system to haul hundreds of pounds of equipment and men across a 28 foot span. And they have to do it quickly. This race takes engineering, skill, choreography, and shear strength. This cannot be compared to ice dancing.

Kevin Smith at his sarcastic best: Southwest Airlines Thin

maximillian says...

They have a fat policy. Sure fat people may be able to get their behind in a seat, but then their other parts droop over into the neighboring seat. That is simply not fair to the other person. Many airlines make people who cannot fit between the armrest to purchase another seat. SouthWest goes a little further in that if they find out that the adjacent seat would have been empty anyways they refund the extra seat. That is totally a fair policy.

Airlines sell seats, that is their unit of measurement. They cannot sell less than a seat for very skinny people. Therefore they have to choose something that is fair to all passengers. I think the standard of "your whole body fitting between the two armrests" is a fair standard.

Debating on the size of the seats is another issue. Airlines are constanlty trying to cram us in smaller spaces. That is a different argument though.

US Senators Trying to Stop Health Reform With Prayer

>> : I think the self-victimization of Christians boils down to fatwa envy. Many Christians are jealous that Muslims get to make death threats to stop people from making fun of their faith while they are (largely) unable to do such a thing.
But, as gwiz pointed out, the real news story here is the total stupidity of trusting prayer to stop a political reform.

Wow, Christian's are jealous that they cannot make death threats?!?! I agree there are some really strange people out there that may think this, but the majority of Christians (the ones that aren't wackos) have NO such wish. I can't believe someone who probably consider themselves an ordinary bloke would think this.

The "forcing" thing is from Ms. Maddows. This video is simple prayer between a religious group and a couple senators who share the same religion. She feels it necessary to bash them. Why? They are simply executing their faith? I don't see ANYONE being forced. NO ONE is shouting out in disgust. So this is a freedom of expression. So the question here is why does Ms. Maddows devote such a lengthy news segment to something trivial, then represent that it represents the right-side of the debate, and finally imply that mixing any political person in religion is wrong (even though the setting isn't official government business). The whole event is a big, "who cares", yet she insists on elevating it to something more. That's journalism worthy of FOX news.

>> ^Haldaug:

The reason that this is news is partly because of the disregard for the first amendment uttered at this meeting, partly because they seemingly see no hope in stopping the health care reform and partly because the guy they choose to lead the prayer is a highly controversial figure.
By the way, chances are the senators probably are trying to force prayer on someone else through legalizing school prayer or some such thing.

I don't see anyone forcing anything. It's two senators in probably a town hall or perhaps a private place. Again, so what. The people there all seem to be of like faith.

And, yes, there is a general trend today that it's OK to bash Christianity but not other religions. There is a culture today where it is frowned upon to make fun of Muslims because we need to be sensitive to their culture as we fight the war-on-terror. It's a stupid excuse. However, even here on videosift there is a disproportionate amount of Christian bashing compared to other religions (except Scientology).

Also Rachel Maddow says right in the opening that "the other side of the fight" is and then shows them praying. How is this representative of the other side of the fight? Two senators praying? That is disingenuous.

The Gift of Hope - The Oddest HS Football Game Ever

Great story. The article is great too and adds some nice quotes.

Many people made this happen. However, it's the leadership of Faith's head coach, Kris Hogan that made it happen. From the article...

'He sent out an email asking the Faithful to do just that. "Here's the message I want you to send:" Hogan wrote. "You are just as valuable as any other person on planet Earth."'

I praise him for taking this stand that resulted in a great game for Gainsville's kids.

So what? People of like faith asking God for guidance? It's not like their forcing prayer on someone else. The participants are all Christians. If it was any other religion other than Christianity then this would not be news. But today it's so hip to bash on Christianity and protect every other signal religion. I used to like some of Rachel Maddow's commentaries but this is such a none-issue that it seems like she has nothing better to do.

Did You Know That Every Day, People Die?

1st commandment.... anything that takes the place of God is an idol. Friends, family, job, hobbies. Of course, this doesn't mean these things should be completely avoided. Not taking care of our family is sinful. It's a matter of priorities.

2nd commandment.... this is the physical interpretation of the first commandment.

7th commandment.... any relationship outside the bounds of marriage is sinful. Between the husband and a wife the "bed is undefiled". Also, Jesus said that lusting after another person is equivalent to adultery. It's the same with murder. Jesus said that hating a person in your heart is equivalent to murdering that person in your heart.

The purpose of the old testament law is to show that we cannot uphold the law of God, or God's standard of living. It is impossible. The new testament calls the law a "school master". The purpose is to show man's inability to live on his own righteousness. The old testament is filled with examples of how Israel (God's chosen people) were unable to live according to the law. The law thus points to the need of a Christ as the fulfillment of the law. In him we are justified.

Throughout the Bible a person's faith in God is counted as righteousness. This faith then results in good works. The Bible is clear that good works is not how we please God, but through faith. Then after faith, good works are a result of our obedience towards God. Old testament people are in Heaven today because of their faith. Their works are a result of their faith. The patriarchs of Genesis who are listed in the hall-of-faith in the book of Hebrews were far from perfect sinless people. But their continual faith in God is what differentiated them from the rest of the people of the world. Christians view this as "looking forward to Christ". After the new testament we now look "back at Christ". Regardless of how you look at it the Bible is clear, man's nature is sinful. Faith in God is the only way to please Him.

In addition to being complete morons these fools are also bad christians. The "are you a good person test" asks if you are a good enough person to get into heaven. But if they actually read a bible once in a while they might come across this. Whoever that criminal on the cross was probably didn't follow very many of the ten commandments yet he was allowed to enter paradise. All he had to do was ask.

If you looked up the "Way of the Master" you would see that they use the Ten Commandments to show that NO one is perfect and can uphold God's standard, and that "asking" or believing in God is the only way to Heaven.

This preacher is going to burn in hell !

maximillian says...

His opinion is just that, an opinion. He has no authority to back his opinion up. It may sound logical, and sure some people may believe what he is saying. However, you have to understand that he is talking from his own interpretation of what he thinks God is and what he thinks God's plan is.

NEW- CLASH of the TITANS preview (awesome)

maximillian says...

They probbaly took all the cool stuff out of the movie so they have enough time to do CGI. CGI, action, and music is what Hollywood thinks makes a great movie. As cheasy as the original was, some of the coolest things about it were the little things. Little things like the metal owl, the blind witches, medussa, the sword, sheild, and helmet, the ferryman. Very little action but it was all fun to watch.
