QI - Why Can't We Walk In A Straight Line Blindfolded?

Samaelsmith says...

>> ^Sagemind:

Maybe our legs are not perfectly equal to the other or we rely on one dominant leg over the other and therefore more effort is put forth with one leg, lending to an overcompensation on one side causing us the walk in curves.

I don't think so. In this link, they show the whole animation that you see here and that similar experiments have been done with swimming and driving. So whatever is going on, it's not simply because of the legs.

Water truck being hit by a train

>> ^Ickster:

I literally witnessed a miracle because despite the fact that the train destroyed the truck, the men inside were okay and they are alive, . . .
Actually, you witnessed a driver not paying attention, and being saved by 50 odd years of safety legislation and good engineering.

I also wouldn't call them lucky, more like incredibly stupid and/or dangerously ignorant of their surroundings. They really have no business being behind the wheel.

It makes you wonder if it might not have been less expensive to replace animatronic seal, chipmunk, and swimming girl with the real thing. I can only guess hes very good at negotiating contracts. Still, incredibly impressive.

Yeah, I didn't understand the point of the swimming girl either. By the way, does anyone know what that last film was?

Nice video but it really needs to be re-edited and slowed down, with dissolves between the pictures. It came across more like a speed-reading test rather than a powerful presentation of some very emotional scenes.

I agree. These were very moving but I had to keep pausing just so I could let all those powerful images fully sink in.
