There is a space based MMO..Eve Online. It's just missing the ability to land on planets.. It's mainly focused on mining asteroids, dog fights, and forming "corporations" and trying to take over others..

Nah, melee weapons are actually pretty strong - especially with the crit system. I've watched scouts take down heavies on their own with just the bat. heh.
