Mommy Moose and Babies Play in Their Backyard Sprinkler
This is the camera woman, Arctic Lilly. You're right about protective moose mothers, they are not to be messed with, however, this particular moose, at this particular time was not bothered by us. We were standing on the back porch and the babies would run within 5 feet of me while I was taping them (that's why the camera angle is so awkward, but the quality is so good). The mother was hot and breathing very hard that day so I pulled the sprinkler out for them. If you look at this video again, you'll see that the moose looks right into the camera, she was looking at me and I know that she was saying "thank you".
This moose has been around for several years. She was raised in this neighborhood by her mother and is not afraid of people. She visits ocassionally and we'll find her sleeping/resting in the backyard summer and winter. That day she and the twins were in our yard at least 14 hours.
She appreciated the sprinkler that day and later that evening when she started eating my flowers I told her to stop, she moved out of the garden, pulled her baby away from a bush it was eating and layed down on the grass for us to get the best pictures of the day. It was a spectacular day. Glad you like it
