Zombie Americans have forgotten why 4th of July is a holiday

Even though I question the man on the street type interviews since one doesn't know how many people they had to go through to get to the idiots, I am surprised at how many couldn't answer. I mean, how is it even possible to not know... Meanwhile some are cutting education budget...

Honestly Stingray, I don't think anyone here needed that description, american or not. I'm not american, and I know what the 4th of July celebrates. I'm pretty sure the average Videosifter is rather knowledgeable.

But this type of videos is exactly what makes me think the vast majority of humans are just completely ignorant. (and I don't mean americans exclusively. I wish it was like that! only 300 million ignorants in the world wouldn't be too bad) This would have been very similar if you did it in another country about their most famous national holiday.

He forget to mention why the Brits gave up this colony. We were drawn into a war with Wales where Queen Boadicea led the Welsh to victory. She ascended the throne desposing King Gandalf. Her daughter Elizabeth II reigns to this day.

While I know perfectly well what ID is for, if someone came up to me with a mic and started talking about freedom from the Nazis, Mexicans and/or slavery, I'd probably respond with a "yeah, sure" too. I'd be more concerned that he might be insane and dangerous at that point.

I think he'd have more telling results if stuck with the "Independence from...?" question.
