deputydogsays...Here's another incredible scene I posted a while back, shame it can't go in the collective...

Nebosukesays...I still say Robin Williams is my favorite actor... I even enjoy the silly movies he likes to do (Night at the Museum). And heck, he's an avid gamer (he did an impromptu bit at E3 demoing Spore with Will Wright).
Personally, I like his roll in Dead Poet's Society better.
persephonesays...Too verbose to be convincing.
Lolthiensays...Sorry, I had to register just to respond to persephone above. I feel I can say with some certainty is that the monologue wasn't meant to be seen as a believable conversation between two people with only one person talking. After all, who (in America at least) has the patience to sit there and be preached at for THREE WHOLE MINTUES. This is a monologue which helps define the story and give some sense of conflict in a story that could easily have devolved into 'The smart guy is always right'. This monologue is studied in several theater programs and it is exceedingly well delivered. Williams often gives himself the short stick with the roles his picks.. but when he picks right.. damn, he picks right.
Marasays...Robin Williams is my favorite actor of ALL time. He could play ANYTHING. I mean that. This was a great monologue by an incredibly gifted actor. Good writing too, I must admit.
lucky760says...Watched this a few nights back for the first time since I was a teenager when I totally didn't -- and couldn't -- appreciate it.
This was a brilliant scene and my favorite of the entire film. Such a beautiful, smart way to finally convince someone that they really don't know it all and that there's so very much life they've yet to experience.

dannym3141says...Maybe you're perfect right now, maybe you don't want to ruin that.
mrsidsays...I still can't quite accept that this movie was written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. It's too brilliant and deep and they haven't written anything this good since then. It so weird...
