A ridiculous propaganda video put out by the Prop 8 people.
G-barsays...

I must admit, this video would probably be successfull, even though it wrongly focuses on this mumbo jumbo Judeo christian phrase and the notion that a Man loving a Man is not Moral -
notice that they don´t address lesbians at all in those clips.

If I were a resident of California.. I would be voting no for this proposition. People should be able to marry or share their lives with whomever they wish. Government needs to get the hell out of people's personal lives.

BUT.. I'm giving this video a vote, because although I disagree personally with these parents, they have every RIGHT to say what is taught to their children.

This is a different issue in my opinion. The public school system has no business teaching morality or indoctrinating children's social values. That privilege belongs to the parent only. A parent should be able to sign an exemption to anything taught to their children other than the core curriculum of that school.

Since we know that isn't going to happen in a government run education system, my advice to them would be to take them out and put them in a private religious school or homeschool them.

I will upvote this with the quallifier that I disagree with Prop 8.
I suggest people listen to this and replace "gay Marriage" with "interracial marriage". If you claim that's different, the bible does discourage marrying from other tribes on a number of occasions.

The actors in this piece are so bad, they dont even feel like real people, they feel like badly made animatronics. If they were real people I couldnt possibly identify less with them and their opinions. I cant even understand who this is aimed at. People who think like the people in this ad are so different from me they might aswell just be a whole other species.

They told kids that a family isn't any worse even if it doesn't include a mom and a dad. Probably so that kids from such a family wouldn't get picked on. (Yes, kids do that)
-"So they teched them about homosexuality?"

Asshat! I would vote for anything that makes sure even kids of fundamentalists would have a chance to hear unbiased facts about something as crucial as accepting other people.

^if the accepted moral values of your school's institution differed from yours, you would not want them teaching your children something different than what you want for them.

Whether you like it or not, neither you or I have the right to tell someone else how to raise their kids.

Unfortunately for this family, they are a bit backward... so?

Ok our society is changing, and they are going to have to decide what to do about it. Culture will decide eventually on this issue and the consequences will be accepted... There will be a day when it homosexuality is accepted as normal.

In the meantime, teaching your children at home that homosexuality is wrong is not considered child abuse. They have the right to indoctrinate their children with whatever religious beliefs they wish.

You would not want something forced on your child an idea you disagree with.

^ I see what you are saying Swampgirl, but at the same time this argument is being used to deny people with the same sex the chance to marry (at least in California). So in some twisted way we should feel sorry for imposing on christians beliefs while they should be free to impose their values on other peoples lives.

Also, I do not agree that society should stand completely out of how children are raised, because the children are part of society and need to function inside it once they grow up. School should not indoctrinate or speak against personal beliefs, but it should teach children to think critically, take in several opinions and make up their own mind about matters. That is something I cannot ever see these parents teaching their children.

Since when has school ever taught a kid to think critically? No, they don't teach children to think at all.. Schools deliver the curriculum handed to them and taught to take the test at the end of the year.

Don't you see from their point of view, gay folks are doing the exact same thing as we see them doing?

The idea of someone sitting your kid down and teaching them creationism and same sex marriages would make you furious because it goes against your reasoning and values.

They feel the same way. Someone is insisting on teaching their children ideas that goes against what they believe.

I'm not arguing for Prop 8.. I'm saying that this is separate issue. These people are fighting the wrong battle. They should be getting a lawyer and deal with the school problem, and not go imposing their will the rights of gay men and women.

Kerotansays...

This video fucking disgusting, I'm starting to fucking believe what people say about the religion causing all the unhappiness in the world, this video didn't even provide any reason why same sex marriage is going to affect the average family, apart from that its "going to confuse the kids", well sonny boy, I have a message for you, you known what I was when I first learnt about Judaism, I was confused, but do you know what happened next? I fucking learnt about Judaism, and now I'm no longer confused about Jews.

Amazing, isn't, this thing that multiple Christians champion about there faith, which is that they are tolerant, where as to me it seems that they only tolerate what is tolerable, in the same way that we the people means for some folk, we the people, expect blacks, Muslims, Mexicans, Cubans, queers, pagans, Indians, and any other minority group you care to mention which has been dogged on by the "faithful" at large.

Just because I learn about something, does not mean I automatically become it.

Idiots.
