Women's Body Types Renamed

New research shows comparing women's body types to fruit is simply 'not apples'.-YT

"They're being renamed" - By who?

"I was a pear and now I'm a Matisse!" - According to who?

Stories like these just show me how some people lead their lives in some kind of ignorant fugue, somehow taking for granted that there's some kind of grand master plan; or absolute truth; or hidden authority on absolutely everything; and the're just drifting along accepting everything they hear.

Especially if it's on the news; or written in a book they've read; or in the internets; recorded, or communicated to them in any way - then it must be true!

I seem to spend a lot of my life asking people basics questions like 'According to who?' and 'On what basis?' after they've just asserted, or inferred something as a fact; and am almost always disappointed to hear that they don't know the answer; they were just running with it for no apparent reason or critical thought.

This video is just one example.

Yeh I've caught myself doing it sometimes.

It's not like I call people out on every mundane thing that they say; I'm sure that'd make me a frikkin bore to be around. I mainly do it with work related stuff where we are making critical decisions, so I guess that's ok

This video just caught my eye because they're accepting something that really doesn't exist.

I completely agree, but to take it even further, the vast majority of men wouldn't think like that anyway.

Men's descriptions would be along the lines of: "I'd do her, and her, and her, and her...after a few beers, and her after a few more."

Plus, calling someone's shape a Botero might make them feel better than if they were called a pumpkin shape, but they are still dangerously obese.

It's just a PR stunt from a lingerie company. It's not like women did this independently and the media is covering it because it has some level of popular support. They're covering it because a story about pretty underwear models prancing around in public is not bad for ratings.

The most irritating thing to me is the message Triumph International is trying to feed women. "Sick of how body conscious and objectified we've made you in the past? It's all good now, you're classical art, not delicious fruit! Buy more frilly underthings, you'll feel better about yourself this time."

Ladies, "fat" is not "curvy", "flab" is not "feminine" and "hairy" is not "empowered."

Either be happy with the way you look or change it. Don't just change the name to make yourself feel better. You're lying to yourself, and it makes you look dumb.
