When Honesty is Treason

Here is another example of a rightwing American accusing Democrats of "treason" and of "hating the troops" because they have the gumption to question the facts of our illegal occupation of Iraq. "...whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it...." How many people know where that line came from?

"You know, BillOreilly, you're just like Stephen Colbert...only without the humor and the wit."

I know you've been itching for a response from me, so I'll give you one.

Son, Steven Colbert is a yellow-dog, no-good, not-funny, witless, egotistical liberal with weird ears and a big mouth. There, ya happy now?

Man I hate those toothless rapist troops!

"They want us to lose"? Babe, you've already lost, the only question that remains is how bad you're gonna lose. Hey, for all I care it's the US responsibility to stay as long in Iraq as its gonna take to guarantee safety to the Iraqi civilians, even if thats gonna take more than a decade. Thats what they get for not learning anything from Vietnam!

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Only downside is the suffering of innocent iraqi civilians.

If the guy who made this is so upset about cutting away from the audio, why doesn't he just stop the video while he adds his commentary as opposed to dropping the audio from the Fox News feed. He should practice what he preaches - no matter how mundane the omitted audio might be.

Yeah, karaidl, you seem to be easily amused. Just a reminder: while you laugh, people die.

Care to post your source, QM?

Here's a few of mine:

By March 2004, only 48 percent of the American public supported the war, compared to 72 percent around the time of the invasion. The support numbers continued to drop, to 47 percent in 2005, 40 percent last year and, now, 32 percent.March 19, 2007

A new low of 30 percent of Americans say they support the U.S. war in Iraq and, for the first time, most Americans say they don't believe it is morally justified....June 27, 2007

As President Bush and Congress hammer out an Iraq war funding bill, a CBS News/New York Times poll shows the number of Americans who say the war is going badly has reached a new high, rising 10 percent this month to 76 percent.May 24, 2007

Clearly, somebody's head remains firmly up his fat ass.

Anne Coulter is crazy. She loves publicity, and will say anything to get it. She is the type of person who should be scoffed at and ignored until she is arrested attempting to elicit sex in a public bathroom.

"Public opinion remains firmly in support of the war. Have a nice post."

Americans are idiots, we already know that lol. Can't point to your own country on a map OMFG. But in this case, you're wrong.

On May 4-7, CNN polled 1,028 adults nationwide. 34% said they favored the war in Iraq, 65% opposed, and 1% was undecided. The margin of error was plus or minus 3%.

I'll add my drivel to this, the worst collection of comments ever at the sift. I come here to escape the random, poorly thought out, knee-jerk reactions that I find so often on the rest of the web. I come here to avoid trolls and idiots from all sides of politics. Please, go back to reddit or wherever you came from. Leave my sandbox alone, or write some interesting, intelligent, thought-provoking comments--come to think of it, try sounding a bit more like NPR. Please.

"Public opinion remains firmly in support of the war. Have a nice post."

That comment sums up the arrogant delusions of the American rightwing quite nicely.

No source, no facts, no reality.

Just "I'm right because I said so" conservatism.

"The July 6-8, 2007, poll finds 62% of Americans saying the United States made a mistake in sending troops to Iraq; 36% say it was not a mistake. This is the first time Gallup has shown opposition to the war exceeding the 60% level. The previous highs were 59% readings in March 2007 and September 2005." - Gallop Poll, 7/11/2007

My "source" in this instance is but an observation: public opinion rules ALL. If the American people really wanted us out of Iraq it would already be a done deal, with a timetable, etc. It would've started right after the November elections.

At this time, more Americans still realize the gains from short-term suffering in this particular theater of war will far outlast the consequences of appeasement.

rougysays...

"If the American people really wanted us out of Iraq it would already be a done deal...."

And how would that come about? They would just fly over to Iraq, grab a soldier, and fly them back home?

If the American people really want something done, it has to go through the usual channels, i.e. our government.

What the American people want, and what our elected officials do, are rarely in sync with one another.

Most Americans - between 60 and 70% of them - are against this war and want it to end, soon.

I've provided my sources and my facts.

You, typically, have ignored them and claimed - once again - that you're right because you said you're right.

(kraidle - forget it)
