SagemindI somewhat agree...
Two sides to this argument (nothing is ever black and white)
Bottled water deprives our bodies of natural minerals found in water that our bodies need and doesn't let us build up the natural antibodies that we need to fight viruses, germs and infection. Plus it tastes god-awefull!!!
Bottled waters only benifit is to aid us in the face of disasters.
Fresh well water and water taken from small streams is still the best water!
blankfistMost of us in metropolitan areas don't have access to well water or any natural water source. We have to rely on tap or bottled water. I drink a mix.
Redsays...Seems to me that you could easily have emergency stock of bottled water without a 30 billions bottles a year industry. This kind of disaster doesn't happen everyday so you could easily renew your stock in the meantime. For "regular" help program it should be fairly easy to plan. I'm not for regulating this however but for educating people of the real price of bottled water for the environment and our economy. Wouldn't you think that it be better if we'd use all the money we put in bottled water into improving our water systems ?
volumptuousUggh.
Anyone ever hear of Brita? It filters tap water. Simple. No bottles required. Keep one in your fridge.
On the go? Use a Sigg bottle. Keep one in my bag, cart it to work, where we got rid of our water-coolers and replaced them all with filtration systems. Saves way more cash, plus not cartin around tons of containers on exhaust spewing trucks.
Why would anyone confuse personal, normal water consumption with emergency disaster relief? That's just weird.
westywell i eat military food packs everyday sure thay take a tun of energy to produce and aload of fuel to transport to my house , but without them we wouldent have an army and think of the miloins of people who would have died without this handy food!.
such a retarded argument.
1) bottled water costs a lot in energy to produce
2) bottles water has a far far far bigger negative impact on the environment than tap water
3) bottled water is good in emergencies and for specific situations
It would make total sense to pass laws making it imposable to produce the levels of display bottle water and soft drinks that are in shops today
It would also make sence using tax money to maintain the running of enough bottled water facilities for aid and disaster water production.
ITS a fact that general day to day usage of bottled water is STUPID and alot is bought under miss information propagated by advertising making bottle water look like some mirical drug substance( waist full expensive + environmental impact)
IT would also be stupid to compelaty remove bottle water but who ever claimed that ?

MarineGunrockI'm only *Promoting this to attack the absurdity of the claim that bottled water is good for emergencies. NO. IT IS NOT. No matter WHAT the situation, bottled water is NOTHING but a drain on resources and an ecological disaster. Energy to draw the water, energy to "purify" the water. Energy to bottle the water. Energy to Ship the water.
GET A FUCKING ON-TAP WATER FILTER AND A FUCKING REUSABLE BOTTLE YOU PRICK.
Emergencies? How about a fucking water bull? It holds 400 gallons and has 5 dispensing points. Not enough? Use some of these. Then give families a couple 5 gallon water jugs to cart the shit around with.
No wasted plastic. No trash. No litter.
Bottled water should be fucking illegal.
MarineGunrockWtf sifty? *promote!
