What if there were no religions, only atheism?

This is what South Park does best; cutting through the bullshit that is political movements. Some delusional people seem to think that everything would be all right if organized religion was no more. To them I say: Behold The United Atheist Alliance vs. The Allied Atheist Alliance vs. The Unified Atheist League.

^ Note that I wrote "some atheists". In this case, Richard Dawkins. While I respect Dawkins to some degree and have read some of his books, I find him arrogant, condescending and lacking a basic understanding of human psychology.

How is Dawkins arrogant? It's not arrogant to be curt with religious nitwits who tend to be infuriatingly dense and illogical.

I think it's troubling that some people are now running around "proud to be atheist". Even worse are people who think they must automatically have something in common with me, just because we both disbelieve the same thing. I don't assume any affinity with other people who don't believe in Santa Claus, so why should God be any different? These "Atheist T-shirt" people embarass me and I wish they'd stay off my side (the side of open-minded rationality) or just shut the fuck up.

Dawkins among other you could say more belligerent and bellicose atheists like Hitchens are merely conveying their view of the world to others. Religion, because it is usually so embed with a person's identity, upbringing and often physiology is tacitly assumed to be sacrosanct, when there is no good objective reason why it should be.

I think they're just saying that we will always find something to put some kind of wedge between us. We will always group together and hate/dislike the other groups. Religions, political movements, sports clubs.. people who like limp bizkit or people who hate limp bizkit... whatever basically.

Ugh. Am I the only one who's utterly had it with South Park's slacker nihilism? Trey Parker and Matt Stone are about as unbearable as the kind of smug, unfit dullard that keeps telling you to vote for Ron Paul.

i think "Atheist T-shirt" is the exact phrase i've been looking for for years. people who are atheist just to be non conformist (and at the same time, conformist), and just to piss off the religious folk. i have no problem with atheists, i have a problem with jerks.

well, morons are morons regardless of their belief. conflating morons with with what morons believe is fallacious. i criticism moronic christians for being morons separate from criticizing their belief system.
