Kofisays...Back the claim up with evidence, yo.
Sagemindsays...Anyone know if this study is available?
I'd like reference to this "study"
(or it didn't happen)
bmacs27says...No, I think it's right. It basically comes from the tar. The problem is they are saying that "by weight, there is this much more tar." That's a bullshit argument though because a pack of smokes by weight per day would be a hell of a chronic habit. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it's pretty rare. Also, the argument goes out the window when you consider the options for alternative intake (vaporizers, edibles, etc). It don't matter though. They're losing.

kevingrrjokingly says...Cigarettes are a healthy alternative, duh.
Boise_Libsays...Cannabis has more tar than tobacco--but the cancer is caused by radioactive elements which tobacco concentrates in it's leaves--cannabis does not.
Bullshit is the correct call.
antjokingly says...No, VS is a healthy alternative.

vaire2ubesays...excatly... tobacco grown naturally is far less risky than a manufactured cigarette... the poison they put on the cigs during processing turns radioactive when combusted.
and as for this being an anti-pot argument? There are several smokeless methods, none of which affect the pulmonary system negatively. So, next argument.
What's that? illegaldrugsareallbadthinkofthechildren??
Oh, ok ill shut up. Good point.
Fucking Terrorist DEA
Auger8says...Cigarettes have something like 300 chemicals in them that's where the cancer causing agents come from not the tar, marijuana has like 3 THC, Chlorophyll(planet matter), and actually that's all I can think of so I guess it's just 2. Anyway I'd choose marijuana any day over something that has cyanide in it to give it flavor wouldn't you?

complete bullshit. Cannabis has hundreds of cannabinoids/chemicals in it.
Auger8says...I could be wrong on that I'm looking into it but "Cannabis is ranked one of the least harmful drugs by a study published in the UK medical journal, The Lancet" As shown in the following graph. You'll notice tobacco is significantly higher on the scale. Graph Here
[edit] ok there are about 100 chemical compounds in cannabis however most of them are responsible for the fragrance/aroma of the plant they're also naturally occurring and not additives. When I was talking about the chemicals in cigarettes I was mainly referring to additive chemicals and known poisons that are added in for supposed flavor, like ammonia and cyanide.
