Visible shockwaves from massive volcanic explosions(Iceland)

Ă“mar Ragnarsson ( http://blog.eyjan.is/omarragnarsson/ ) shot this rather amazing video at 5am this morning. It shows massive explosions in the volcano and resulting shockwaves traveling through the ash plume (that's just starting it's journey to Europe where it will wreak havoc on air traffic).

The "sparks" that can be seen flying in the video are building-sized clumps of lava.

How much you want to bet some Jesus nut somewhere is screaming that Demons are pouring out of the gates of hell, and that the 'end is neigh!'. Demons and some such are from below the ground after all ya know. Right?

Amazing! Why is it that this supposedly small, unexceptional volcano is generating such amazing footage? Are all volcano eruptions this amazing?

I've seen the relatively placid eruptions of Hawaiian volcanoes, and they are amazing, although not at all like this.
