siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Canada) - requested by swampgirl.
rougysays...I love Canada.
I want to be a Canadian.
sometimessays...this had better hit top 15.
Lummsays...My goodness, I'm honoured - my first post has hit the top 15!
rottenseedsays...Lumm, one hit wonders are a very real thing...
jacksinmusicdotcomsays...Not that funny. Now if a Saudi produced this it'd be really funny.
Smugglarnsays...My only issue with this is the faulty logic of the people often ridiculing Victorian traditions* not recognising the inane traditions of the cultures they find "exotic" (in a very colonial manner).
So it's OK for a Sikh to wear a turban or a Muslim woman to wear a burka but the Amish are the ones that's nuts. It just doesn't make sense.
Coming from the most secularised country in the world (Sweden) where forced marriages are accepted (for those adorable minorities) this complacency bothers me to no end.
* not that I have any sympathy for those
siftbotsays...Tags for this video have been changed from 'rick, mercer, monday, report, comedy, cbc' to 'rick, mercer, monday, report, comedy, cbc, jar o pennies' - edited by calvados
calvadossays...good sift Lumm and welcome!
Incidentally, Rick Mercer, the man in the video and a fairly famous Canadian TV personality, is also openly gay.
blankfistsays...Canada is the jar of pennies.
jwraysays...Agreed, there no excuse for taking away the freedom of certain women with things like forced marriage and forced hijab. Believing something is moral or immoral doesn't make it so. That is the bankruptcy of moral relativism. Is anybody suprised to hear this from an atheist?

siftbotsays...Promoting this video back to the front page; last published Monday, September 24th, 2007 1:21am PDT - promote requested by calvados.
lullaby_lunesays...This is AMAZING. *Love! (I wish that were an invocation)
siftbotsays...Invocations (love) cannot be called by lullaby_lune because lullaby_lune is not privileged - sorry.
