Tour de France TV car hits cyclists

Flecha and Hoogerland were hit by a French TV car in Stage 9 of this year's TdF.

You can see how the car is trying to avoid the tree and just stay on the road. This road should never have been chose for the race. I'm not a big follower of the Tour, but if these are the kinds of roads they routinely pick, then it's surprising this doesn't happen more often.

They need to have either bigger roads, or better rules about distance between cars and cyclists.

@MaxWilder

There are all sorts of roads, and there are rules for cars, the first of which is probably, "Don't hit the cyclists." Better to hit a tree. Better still to pay attention to the road. I've been watching the Tour on and off for about 13 years, and I've never seen or heard of this happening -- not to say it hasn't, but it's quite rare.
