Barsepssays...Couldn't agree more with ya A.C. Mr Oldman proved himself TWICE with me when he played a wannabe rastafarian drug dealer in "True Romance" & again in 1997 when he directed Kathy Bates to a best actress award at the Cannes film festival. I've little doubt you've seen it, but to any sifters who haven't, I HIGHLY recommend it---------->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nil_by_Mouth_%28film%29

ChaosEnginesays...Oldman was robbed for Tinker Tailor... he's always been great at big scenery chewing roles, but Tinker Tailor (fantastic movie, btw) showed he could do quiet and subtle as well.
As for Peter O'Toole, he is fantastic and was incredibly unlucky to come up against Gregory Pecks Atticus Finch (an equally worthy winner) when he was nominated for Laurence Of Arabia.
Brad Pitt is ok, but he's just not in the same class.
Deanosays...I did not know Peter O'Toole never got an Oscar. Bit of a shocker that one.
As for Leo he gets criticised for his shouty style which maybe works against him - he's ok but I've never been a fan.
VoodooVsays...I can't deny that DiCaprio has done good work. Still just comes off as unlikable though
Xaielaosays...I think Sean Astin should be added to the list, if only for the LotR trilogy. O'Toole is a big one but I think Oldman is perhaps the best actor around today.
Zawashsays...But who should we get to vote for Gary Oldman?
chingalerasays...The Academys' a private little club anyhow that strokes her own bought-and-sold-out team-players more often that not-I would imagine that most of these great actors be they of the method or character camps don't care about Academy Awards, as they have earned over and over, numerous other more sought-after accolades.
