Where do old cell phones and mobile devices go when you recycle them? Why should you take those phones out of your sock drawer and take them back? What toxics are in a typical cell phone? How much gold and silver is in a cell phone? How do I recycle my cell phones and mobile devices? (YT)

I've been using the same cell phone for about 4 years. I'm now needing to replace it because the display has gone out. I've been looking at new ones for 2 weeks. I can still use the phone, but I can only call someone if they're on speed dial or I know the number, since I can't access my address book.

I just want a simple cell phone with good battery life. My phone is a small flip phone rated at 6 hours of talk time. All the new phones I see are either massive PDA types or bar and flip phones that are bigger than what I have now and get half the battery life. It seems like cell phones have taken a backward step since I got this one, which is why it's taking me so long to find a replacement.

I just need a phone, I don't need to do email, internet and play games. I just use it to make phone calls. It seems nobody makes anything like that anymore. They all have at least a camera and MP3 player built in.
