The Never-Ending Icy Pileup

Isn't driving in the snow with idiots so much fun??
mintbbbsays...

Since you seem to be so interested in making my video to be a dupe in the sifttalk now..

I submitted this first: http://www.videosift.com/video/Bush-Interview-ABC-News-Shoe-insult-Iraq-Al-Qaeda

However, why isn't this, submitted later by Grimm: http://www.videosift.com/video/Bush-On-Al-Qaeda-Not-In-Iraq-Before-Invasion-So-What
considered a dupe also? It is the exact same interview, but a shorter clip.

I KNOW mine was first, because I yelled NetRunner tons for voting Grimm's video after he published his, and his got sifter before mine, and got to top15.

Just asking.

This vid here, I'm inclined to say is a better version of the older one. It's not technically a dupe, but the best thing is to replace the original with this clip. We don't really need both.

As for the Bush interview vids, mintbbb, I agree that Grimm's is a clear dupe of yours, even with the time differential. The content of Grimm's vid starts about 1 minute into yours, so there's definitely no need to have both of those. It is a shame about the forked discussion on that thread, but it does seem pretty clear cut.

Not a dupe at all here. *return
Discusses should not be used frivolously. This is very clearly not a dupe.

The other example minbbb shows is clearly a dupe, and should be marked as such.

Precedent has been set that shorter videos aren't dupes. I say return. And if I come back here tomorrow and this is still in the Sift Talk pages, I will act as judge, jury and ball slinger and return this... and I will also discard all of MG's videos.

I go by the rules and the rules say return. Just because you think it is a dupe, doesn't make it so. In fact the rules very clearly specify that this is not a dupe. If you feel the rules should be changed, make a sift talk.

Your call of dupe here is frivolous and a waste of everyone's time.

It amazes me that people would go out in that weather without chains. But I speak as a lowlander who never has to deal with ice. Perhaps when they're used to it they get cocky, then surprised by the real ice patches?

And, I submit that drama is good for the sift. Discuss.

a tip to the suv driver in the clip (i know you are reading this) when you are braking hard like that, the tires "locked" as we call it, steering to the left will not make your vehicle turn left. the wheels have to go around to make a difference in which direction you are going.
and also remember that your vehicle's weight is a few tons more than a normal car, and the distance you need to stop (even on not so icy days) is much longer than for regular cars.
