While I agree there is no need to remake this, I doubt they'll be doing it with CGI. It will be far more cost effective to actually build a robot. The size, scale and required capability of the Johnny 5 robot is well within the means of today and so building one that is radio controlled will be far cheaper (and yield better visual/acting results) than doing many, many scenes in CG.
