I'm hopeful, if they are truthful to the books.
EMPIREsays...they should. I mean. there were tv series and even a couple of animated movies done. I think the books translate very well and easily into movie form.

I'm way too cynical - but I never underestimate the ability of Hollywood to fuck things up.

Kofisays...I am so glad this is an animated movie. It would have been so butchered if it were live action, unless it starred Simon Pegg as Tintin and Nick Frost as Cuthbert.

Who would play Captain Haddock? I always pictured this guy

EMPIREsays...Too fat Dag. The captain isn't that fat. He's just bearded, drunk, and mad as hell at everything.

First Tintin live action movie, back in the 60's.
There is only one thing about the new movie that will never seem right to me. Them speaking english... and have characters like Dupont and Dupond called Thomson and Thompson.
Tintin should be in french always. I hate dubbing, I really do. I always go for the original, but in this case I would consider buying the french DVD/Bluray just to get the right tone

Holy shit.. the 60's Live Action Tintin is pretty bad ass, using Judo and what not.
gwiz665says...But where are the explosions? Where are the car chases? Helicopters crashing? This will never be good..
kymbossays...Brian Blessed would have made a great Captain a few years ago.

Fantomassays...Blistering barnacles this better be good!
MonkeySpanksays...I hope they didn't just ruin Tintin, like they did with Spider-man and Iron Man.

Alas, Hollywood, very much like a rapist, doesn't stop when asked nicely.
spoco2says...Does it not worry anyone else that they show NO lips moving AT ALL in this trailer?
It's pretty much always the thing they stuff up with semi-to-uber realistic CGI, it's certainly what sucked about CLU/young Flyn in Tron Legacy (still and awesome movie btw).
Have they done just as badly? Do the characters look crap when doing anything more than just moving around?
I sure hope not, as this has some awesome pedigree.
antonyesays...Meh.
Deanosays...In 3D. Ughh.

Well, it's not like you have to watch it in 3D, and being CGI it is pretty straight forward to create it as 3D seeing as the scenes are 3D in the computer already.

Are we sure about that? My understanding is that many of these new releases have very limited 2D screenings.
